I’m actually a bit depressed at how naive I feel I’ve been.
When it comes to racism, it’s always been there, but I genuinely (stupidly) felt that we were in a large way winning that one, what I mean is, I thought there was still a lot in the way of racism, but I honestly thought we had moved on since the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. I thought it had gotten better and that people, generally, were less racist, but actually reading various things this morning on these news reports, we haven’t have we. It’s just been a bit quieter and under wraps, and the last year or two has basically legitimised it again.
There was some nonsense on the last page about how if you condemn an attacker you get called racist. Let’s make it clear;
If you carry out one of these attacks, you’re scum of the highest order. It doesn’t matter your skin colour, religion, political leanings, if you attack others like this you deserve all the condemnation you get and you’re scum. The point people are trying to make is that if someone called Dave attacks someone, we don’t need to assume all Dave’s are the same and sling abuse at them, and advocate hating them. This isn’t difficult
