*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur FC v Aston Villa ***

That’s my point .

Can’t really judge Frank to harshly. The squad is not a top four squad.

Need a couple more windows. We will be better than 17th but we are not finishing in the top four.
Oh agree then, probably read your post wrong.

I said at the start of the season I’d take us being in Europe, I think the fact we are in the CL this season is distorting things for some, we aren’t really a CL side currently, it’s just the (much appreciated) EL win out us there. Hopefully Paratici is already looking.

One of those frustrating games. Often seems to happen at home, where we go ahead, then don't play particularly well. Thought Frnak might have changed things up earlier 2nd half. But at home, we're too easily rattled and frantic. We need patience, confidence, for assurness. More precision in the final third too.

Still, I think we played okay for most of the game. First half especially. Lost some discipline as we tired. We need a front 4 who gel, get into a rythm and get some confidence. Frank needs to choose his best attackers and then just stick with them ignoring all fans bullzhit until they start to harmonise.

We have been the better team. Two goals against the run of play. But.

We lack the quality to front. Tel and odobert never affect a game. Kudus can't do it all on his own. Muani just back.

We need more from our left and forwards. Solanke doesn't score often but he always holds it up well. Simons needs someone to play off. We desperately need a left winger of quality.

Very, very, very disappointed with that. That’s an ordinary Villa side. Two smashing goals in fairness but we looked pretty impotent.

Said weeks ago nothing has changed in our mentality. This “wouldn’t have won that or drawn that last season” was a load of nonsense. We lucked into a couple of those comebacks.

It’ll click at some point. Symons is a player struggling but he’s a player. Big Dom and Deki will come back. We’ll get better in the new year. But, for now, it’s labourered.

Danso our best player for me. Porro busted a nut too. We didn’t deserve to lose that game but we didn’t deserve to win it either. And when you don’t deserve to win games, you’re always susceptible to a bit of brilliance.

Frank gave the game away, poor starting lineup and to late subs.

Tel is not ready for PL, Xavi needs more time to adapt and build some strength up.

With Muani and Richy from start we win this game easy. Every time we put a cross in it got dangerous in the end.

Only Excuse for Frank is if Richy is not fully fit and Muani don't have 90 min in his legs. But either way the subs of Odobert and Tel was way way too late!

We started so well, with a great press and getting to the second balls before them, but then we ran out of legs. Why didn't Frank get his subs on straight away? It was boiling my tinkle and then they scored the second. Just brick really!

We're not very good are we?
Games I've seen we're so pedestrian, front 4 don't produce hardly anything bar Kudus who is head and shoulders above them.
No real action to our play, the crowd can see it and why we have very little atmosphere.
Villa's players had so much space to play their football and they're not a particularly good side, 2 very good goals though that don't happen often.

We're still in a rebuild, perennially in one really. Semenyo would really be a game changer but not sure how realistic that is. We've been unlucky with injuries and the average age of the attack is really low and thus they struggle to influence games much. It was a tight game and if Muani and Odebert had done better with their point-blank chances we'd have got a result.

Apart from Kudus our forwards we have available are no where near Premiership levels. Once Maddison , Kulusevski and Solanke are fit Tel Odebert and Xavi will be no where near the starting line up.

In fairness he needs them to be fit before he can do that. It's bound to be Kolo left, Kudus right, and Solanke upfront when fit. No 10 role is up for grabs.

And again with the brain dead boos. Support the team for fudge sake. I'm losing it over this idiotic entitlement brick. "Oh but we pay a lot for tickets" - so fudging what. Support your team in the stands or shut the fudge up.
Lads leaving early and others booing. Your ticket price entitles you to watch the game and to watch a team trying. Nothing more. That’s what we got. We just weren’t good enough.

It's alright. Game of fine margins, and we lost to a couple of wonder strikes, though we're looking pretty blunt in front of goal ourselves. The movement and solidity is there - just lacking penetration.

Ultimately, it's a squad problem. Udogie being injured (and unfortunately, now entering 'injury-prone' territory) means we often have no 'natural' left back who can provide a threat down that side, and it makes us blunt. Spence has his strengths, but his left foot is not one of them - he will always, 100% of the time, cut in on his right, and that makes him predictable and essentially shuts the attack down.

The squad will be in a healthier place when we have two natural left backs, and Spence moved to be Porro's rotation on the right where he can be on his favored foot more.

Other than that, another striker would be welcome - someone better than Richy, less injury-prone than Solanke, less raw than Tel. And eventually, Frank will have to see that a Bentancur-Palhinha midfield isn't necessarily the best one to impose our game on the opponent - bit much of a muchness there.

But like I said, not too worried on the whole. Just lost to random chance, it happens.
