Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Home Secretary right. Pro-Palestinian protests being held in response to the terror attack on a synagogue are disgusting and Polanski can go f*ck himself.
Agree I think there is a time and place and this isn't it.

Extremism on all sides can have a rest and maybe we can have a sense and period of self soothing

My heart goes to the victims

I don't see the particular connection between Brits of the Jewish faith and the militaristic and genocidal foreign policy of a third country government. No more than a pro-Ukraine rally should upset Helen Mirren. Separating those things might help everyone get along a bit better

I think we can sperate things when we don't look at them in such extremes.

I have sympathy with Palestinians as I do with Israeli's, in that respect I feel no reason to tout an extreme view of support for either. I think both are being let down by leadership of both Netty and Hamas, and can take that view without picking a side in the fight, I am ok with that.

Maybe a change of pace from the political oblivion everyone, including myself seem to be heading for ............but no better day to post this........a song and album I have found recently.

Have a good weekend all..............

It may be based on some version of events but it is fiction.

If some people find comfort in their beliefs, whatever they may be, then good; have at it. But historically, religion has been a driving force for evil. Religious beliefs have been used as a reason for committing atrocities since time immemorial, and still are to this day. Cherrypicking parts of an ancient creed to justify actions while ignoring the message from the same passages only demonstrates that most piety is skin deep. Religion is both a shield and a weapon to be deployed as needed.

Sure, the urge to believe in a higher power is human nature, I understand that. There is a spiritual void in everyone that needs to be filled. Some worship money, some believe in thetans, others find solace in pretending old dead people were magic. But of all historical religions, the only ones that actually make any sense at all are those that worshipped the sun or nature. Those at least have some basis in reality.

Great post.

The protests were organised weeks ago and are nothing to do with Jewish people. They are about a genocide where 10s of thousands have been killed.

However I do see how any person of the Jewish faith would feel scared right now.

Perhaps cancel it out of respect during this sensitive time. Can have a march postponed.

Sounds like the police might have been assuming all mildly middle eastern looking people were baddies (reports at least two of the victims were from friendly fire)
Probably not they have been protected in other circumstances. The police are a complete mob of muppets.

Sorry that’s ridiculous. The police were called out to an emergency of a guy driving a car into pedestrians and then stabbing people whilst trying to get into the synagogue. If he didn’t drop his knife when told to, and when there were people calling out that he had a bomb attached to him, then the judgement they made to shoot him is totally understandable.

Edit - obviously extremely tragic that a person standing behind the door inside the synagogue to stop the murderer getting in was shot. I am not trying to justify that.
I thought the other death was from being struck by the car but I’m not up to date on any news since lunchtime.

Almost like they didn't mean to turn up and kill anyone

For all the issues with our police l, our tactical force is second to none

OK let's play.

Here is you sharing lies and inciting violence on a pulbic platform. Do you admit you were sharing lies as fact?

Considering you and Gazza were interrogating me, how cone you have disappeared when confronted with your dangerous incitement last summer @markysimmo?

There's actual evidence you incite hatred on the forum. But I'm the one being harrassed to give you my view on Sharia?

Come on lad. Let's play this game then.
