Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Thought Palhinha might have been involved, but as he is only here in loan we might have thought against him being involved

Very interesting. Am I dreaming or did I see Porro with the armband on at some point this season? He's the other name I would think about.

Seems like VDV is growing as a personality in the group. I didn't really see his name being mentioned previously.

While it has been spoken about as a strength of his, to expect a lot of chopping and changing tactically early in to a new regime is a bit unrealistic, he is still learning what he has available to him and what his players offer after all - if similar performances & results followed an approach where setups change then I could easily imagine complaints regarding that being the problem and that he should play a more consistent game. Damned if you do, essentially.
This for me too.

It's too early to expect real consistency of performance.

I'm about as certain as I can be that Frank will want to see our possession game improve. It's just not his top priority at the moment.

I'd have Kulu in there above all of them. He's always the one that comes across with a real drive to win and improve in his interviews. Of course things can be different behind the scenes.
I'm not sure how Vicario could be near that group. As you said, just looks like they took the oldest few players.

Can’t have a loan player in there
Still find it odd that it’s a “thing”

I guess Frank hasn't seen enough of Kulu, at least on the pitch to know if he is the right person for that role.

But I agree, he will be involved, even if not officially

If we are already talking about signing him for next season, I could have seen in.

Should just announce captain and vice captain/s and then the leadership group could stay private.

Would have been nice to have seen a Gray or Bergvall in there. Someone young who could get some good experience for the future

Bizarre, this current obsession with leadership groups. If anything, it shows that there is no natural leader.

And Vic feels like the opposite to a calm head to me, waving his arms around like a madman whenever an opposition player shoots at goal - and generally creating unrest for those around him.
Vic does this thing after conceding where he looks around at his team. It might not be what I am thinking but seems to me like he is looking for someone to blame.

Yeah, although tbf I notice a lot of keepers looking around at the defence after conceding a goal it seems part of their DNA :D

But regardless, Vic is not someone who strikes me as a leader but we are not privy to how things are behind closed doors I guess. Just don't see why we need such a 'group', most teams manage fine without and players just lead naturally....

I don’t think it’s a one-way thing. Promoting to leadership roles, even if only in name, can motivate those people in other ways too. Make them step up their performance, take responsibility etc.

Regardless, I read how terrible a captain Son was many times on here and other places, and that’s so obviously not true.

because the opposition even being in a position to get a shot off means the other 10 players have fudged up

I think that's a bit of a stretch tbh - it's not like he's being promoted to captain, it's a 'leadership role' which seems to be little more than recognition of being a senior player. And I would be a tad concerned if this is what is required for a player to step up and take responsibility.

Just find it all a bit weird, but is what it is....

It works in non-footballing environments, why would it not there too?
