Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

All points towards the sale here, people likely to get their state ownership heroes now.

I’m not sure I agree with this. There’s a structure in the club now that endures beyond Levy.

I feel like it could as easily be a recognition of the fact that his skillset was in keeping us competitive and progressing with the stadium and training ground builds but to take that next leap it requires a different skillset.

I can see new investment, I could see new owners. But I don’t think this news signals it necessarily. I think it’s more the right time to let someone else take the reins and push the club forward from the level Daniel had gotten us too, which was an incredible achievement. He basically got us to the point where we have the resources of a super club. I just don’t know that he was then best placed to lead a strategy in leveraging those resources.

What is interesting and what I’ve long thought is that Levy could have been protecting his Enic shareholding. Whether we will see him sell his Enic shares back, or if they are being diluted by investment into the club, idk.

There is a mismatch h between the shareholders. Joe Lewis has the money to invest into Spurs. Levy doesn’t. That creates a trickery situation with Levy as CEO. As he wouldn’t sanction actions that potentially dilute his shares. For example, if Enic invest £100m into Spurs Levy would either have to stump up circa 25m or see his share holding diluted.

All that said, Levy has huge knowledge of football politics, contracts and negotiations for players. I would think Enic can transition in harmony with him to retain his nous and input if needed. It would be a shame to lose that acumen. And no doubt he will exit with a huge interest in the club - emotionally as well as financially.
I get the financials jiggery pokery BUT if Levy owns 25% of THFC, he's minted with generational money. One could worry about that, but probably why bother?

A lot of feelings about this. Some excitement that we might be a bit more fiscally adventurous. Trepidation that such a path could be ruinous for us if not managed properly. Eternally grateful to Daniel Levy for all he’s done for the club.

For me, he was a brilliant chairman who turned this club around on and off the pitch given what he inherited in 2001. Okay, the on pitch didn’t get to where we’d have all loved but, objectively, we’re streets ahead of where we were for a long time before ENIC.

The infrastructure he envisaged and delivered is exceptional.

He’s someone I admire and I’m glad he was our chairman for so long. Even if you fall on the opposite side of the fence, I’d hope people can appreciate the good he did and that he did what he believed was right for Tottenham.

I really hope he does get the credit he deserves now he’s gone.

How do you see that, when ENIC have literally just appointed his two replacements? One of whom seems to have been deliberately brought in to have an overlap with his predecessor. This just looks like ENIC moving staff around
Because I don't see them wanting to have the club forever and one guy coming in seems to do so with a purpose, which IMO could be to facilitate a sale.

Not sure it's that left field speculation
