Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Well considering your rationale on calling people you don't know a "douchebag" we all know thats a lie.

The fundamental difference between you and me is I love my son where as you openly loathe your children and I am not scared of someone because of how they look.
Hmmm been through this before, saying "we don't have to treat every douchebag rocking up on a boat as a refugee" isn't a reflection on my own opinion of those people.

Being honest about the challenges and mental load of juggling work and parenting 3 children while steering clear of divorce all while costs and taxes pile up doesn't = loathing my children.

If you aren't scared of things because of the way they look then you are not normal and in caveman days you'd likely be dead: "oh that cat looks cuddly - look at those huge teeth - so cute! Here kitty kitty!"

in all seriousness though, the Govt still isn't doing enough about it, they need a solution. Maybe (and i say this as a left/centrist) the idea behind Rwanda wasn't the worst? poorly executed of course but right now, not enough deterrent and not enough to show the Govt of the day is handling it.

Laughable to see the Tories trying to point score though. Did nothing for the time they were in charge and now they have all the solutions?

Funnily enough, i dont think many in this country would have much issue with women and children coming in.

We take a small amount of refugees compared to France, Germany, Turkey and others. I think the issue is processing them, removing bad claimants and allowing the others to contribute to the economy and at least feel welcome enough to want to embrace the culture here.

Caveman thinking probably didn't contain much critical thinking and nuance tbf but even back then I'm sure they could distinguish between a kitten and a tiger.

I can be scared of any human given their behaviour. But rarely scared of the invisible.

The fact you liken todays times to "Caveman" pretty much encapsulates your outlook really.

Says it all
Human behaviour is all based on chemicals developed for caveman times. Fear, stress, anxiety, these are all inbuilt reactions for survival. Vision is one of our primary senses and a lot of reactions are inbuilt at a primeval level. Fear of snakes, spiders and rats/mice are typical examples of common involuntary fear processes due to the threats these things potentially represent.

Keep saying. Focus on yourself, that where your power is. Not in a selfish way but in doing the best for you and your little tribe. You could be being selfish (to them) by focusing on so much external stuff that really (and I mean, REALLY) doesn't directly effect you. Then spend time positioning (or repositioning) yourself to insulate/protect yourself from the things that really do effect you, with the aim of feeling better about things.

Of course, in our safer western country, this is more than likely going to revolve around money, and the extent of life one creates around the reliability on it.
What one then does about it, is reliant on your relationship/behaviour/attitude with money and how that reflects on the other important responsibilities in ones life.

How do you know that?

Have you spoken to some?
I read up on the latest archaeological discoveries and scientific discoveries that have fundamentally shifted how we view them. Even other human species like Neanderthals and Denisovans displayed far more sophisticated societal traits than we used to think, including care for sick and elderly and what appears to be choreographed burials.

Where as being scared of another human because they are brown like you said once is just a nonsense

I'm not sure how even scientific discoveries can uncover much more than we already know.

Nice to read (if true) they managed to afford care and compassion to others though

(For a moment I thought you were going to say you'd done a stint down at Cromwell Rd, South Ken)

There was literally a post the other month about it where you mentioned a nervousness and irrational fear about people who on appearance are different to yourself and how vast changes in society manifest those views
Yeah so this is different. This is about people seeing their communities change rapidly around them. Being surrounded by people that don't speak their language on the bus. Seeing the local English shops close down and be replaced by Polski Skleps, Persian Charcoal and Halal butchers, this is about wanting to send your kid to a school where they'll fit in. None of that is about my or anyone else's reaction to meeting an individual person, it is about a feeling of community and shared culture and values and about how most people gravitate towards those similar/familiar to them. Our own PM set it out in his "island of strangers" speech.

Well it not different because you did also say you felt uneasy because of people's appearance, which was my point, I have just gone back to check and its clear in black and white what you said.

You also posted a long ramble about how you felt amongst multiculturalism

I never said i would be scared of someone because of their skin colour, or because they look different, which is what you said.

Cool Story

"Some of this may not be particularly rational either. It is what it is. Guy wearing Arab clothes, speaking a different language, long beard, just body language differences * that someone that hasnt been born here may have. Puts me a bit on edge."

*aka their appearance

I find the "hasn't been born here" part rather telling TBH

Yeah and good for you if you didn't experience similar after 9/11 etc. You're a better person than I am.
