Daniel Levy - Chairman

Thanks, to be fair the last forum I was on people literally just swear at each other with no real purpose or point and basically make the internet their entire personality.

I think it’s that initial balance I like, I think Levy has done a lot for this club - look at where we were when he took over, compared to now, I think the stadium and all of the infrastructure is fantastic. I do however also think there’s been a few times where we’ve taken the easy option of doing little, or doing nothing to capitalise on progress - albeit, any sane person can see we aren’t playing on the same playing field as the clubs we are competing with.

Like you say, if you reason both sides, a lot of people out there aren’t happy! Seems there is anger if you either haven’t said he’s the messiah, or said he should be in prison for neglect!
Yeah, you can fudge right off with that attitude.

(Only joking, was a bit of a tradition on here at one point jokingly telling newcomers to do one, now most people are friendly from the off).

Welcome. I've not been on a lot of Spurs message boards, but this is a cool place with a lot of good posters where disagreement is very much real, but mostly reasoned conversations. Unless we're doing poorly for a while...

So kudus , Palinha & Xavi now all direct improvements to the first team and fill in the gaps we had…
3 rather clear first team players with real experience coming in. For roles we needed.

That along with Danso, Tel and Takai. Frank and a new contract for Romero. Seems like something that would match quite a few expectations from the start of the window? (wouldn't have thought it by the mood a week ago)

My first try I was some 80 mill in breach of FFP.
After my second, I ended up around 60 mill ahead BUT doubtless with a protest group of epic proportions and a conscience which needed bleaching most likely!!!!!
Pretty good exercise with regards to how tough it really would be to run a club (doh!)...

I won the FA cup and awaiting an investigation into some dodgy dealings to pass FFP/PSR.

Welcome to what I firmly believe is the ONLY THFC forum which embraces the truth and balamce of dialectics!!!!

Honestly, I’d say it’s already looking like a fantastic window and has the potential to be realistically impossible to improve with the business we might still yet do.

I was hoping for a step change and I feel like we’re seeing it. Absolutely credit due to the next phase in the club’s development being executed against.

I actually think we’re approaching the point that it has to exceed all realistic expectations.

The other thing to look at is that other clubs have also had terrific windows. City have refreshed. Liverpool have made a few really big moves. Arsenal are still doing business. So we needed to do this to keep pace. But the fact is we are at least keeping the pace, and trying to compete at this level.

I don’t think anyone can realistically ask for more. The only way we could have done more is have the benefit of oil money and complete PSR freedom. But in the world that exists, the club has done extremely well. It might be that we are benefitting from this new era with 5 English CL places, stadium money predictable, so we’re operating a little more in that echelon. We can realistically paint a case to signings that we will be in the CL more often than not with 5 places. And maybe we are benefitting from some ENIC investment too.

It’s all great, and I’m glad we’re up there. And performing well. I think Levy deserves a lot of praise. Credit and criticism where it is due, and I think credit is really due and could be even more due by the end of the window.

Have to just quickly say, I only joined this place about a week ago, but it’s nice to see that it’s actually pretty reasoned and balanced in these threads, more grey area allowed where you think two opposing things can have truth to them in different contexts rather than always black or white “he’s great” vs “he’s the devil”. Some of the other forums I’ve been on are absolutely ridiculous around this issue.
He is a bit of both
My issue, that I’ve never seen an answer too… is what the alternative?
I’ve not met a fan that wouldn’t like their club to spend more and we aren’t unique in our desires
But, I don’t know where that will come from today, with these owners, so I’ve made my peace with it and I’ll enjoy the ride
Welcome on board

That’s a notable improvement to 30% of the starting outfield
Add in that Pahlhina is clearly also doing some coaching whilst here and it’s even more of a lift
The squad is getting better and the coaching is only going to add to that
Always think going from 8th to 4th is easier than making that step from 2nd to 1st, and our aim isnt the latter, this season at least
