Xavi Simons

@glorygloryeze
Happy do stand up and say my mate was wrong, but glad he was

Simon deal done
Even those really involved in deals will get things wrong, it's football - things change at both the buyers and sellers end.

You passed on in good faith, there's no real right or wrong from those who pass on info - it's your call to decide how invested you get in what has been said by whoever IMO.....

Watching compilation videos as you do, couldn't help but notice a lot of tackling going on. The amount of times the move the compilation video showed was started by him winning the ball back himself, was pretty noticeable. He seems to have a particular technique to it where its often a half-slide tackle where he hooks the ball away then regains his balance and carries it forward. Does seem a better fit for Frank than Eze if that is a major part of his game....
He's also a through ball merchant. His vision is fantastic, and he has the technique to pull the passes off. If hes able to play in the PL physically we've got a bit of steal. He's the most talented AM we've been linked to and the one I really wanted. It just seemed like he was Chelsea's the entire time.

The level of technique in the squad has just gone up significantly.

I think he's the best of the 4 in terms of quality and potential, the question are more about his robustness
For the short term his lack of PL experience is a slight downside compared to Eze and MGW. But impossible to know how things actually play out, he has the talent to hit the ground running so not a big deal imo.

I agree that his potential, along with being younger probably makes his ceiling higher. On short term quality I'm not sure he's the best, but he to me seems close enough to where there's little difference at least.

To me he seems like a wonderful player.

Yup, he was our first pursuit of the summer apparently before MGW, so Frank clearly was onboard early...I've said myself several times re: Eze that I love the player and wanted him, and that he was not the best overall fit for all Frank likes...

If that’s the case then if we get to the end of the summer with Xavi in, having been through a hell of a journey with other stops on the way, then it will have all worked out and the club deserves huge praise.

It’s funny that we were talking about whether Kudus and MGW in the same week would have suggested this would be a different sort of summer, and it was such a downer that it didn’t happen. But getting the first choice target puts us back at that level. Get Savinho too and it’s been a sensational window.

I think his ceiling is absolutely higher. His game is more rounded than both Eze and MGW. He's press resistant, can genuinely dribble and ball carry and most importantly he can play both as a tempo setter as well as final third killer passer. He's also significantly younger than both.

A move to a Spurs is probably what his career needs. He started off at Barca and super highly rated (this is where I first saw him) then he made weirdish move to PSG because he didn't think he was being given the chance he should have been and that was that weird period where Barca were ignoring their youth team for superstars that didn't really work. Of course PSG at the time was no place to make a youth team breakthrough either, then he moved to RB to get a restart and it hasn't exactly worked.

I think he needs a tier 2 club where he can get the love and attention he needs and coaching to coax out all that talent he has. That is what RB sort of was but they never intend on holding on to a player, they are about flipping them. Coming to Spurs is somewhere he can showcase his talent and create a genuine stable home for himself.
