I'll give you a real life example that I've dealt with relatively recently.
- Bloke is an investment advisor.
- Bloke's wife is diagnosed with cancer.
- there's a specialist treatment available for this cancer but the NHS are not willing to fund it.
- Bloke pays for the treatment privately. He ends up racking up a load of debt.
- He ends up taking money off clients he states will be invested and then uses the money to pay off his debts and fund further cancer treatment.
- He ends up developing a sophisticated ponzi scheme to pay for his wife's cancer treatment.
- He's in prison now on multiple counts of fraud and money laundering.

Is he a scumbag?

Its same all over. People perceive that because they can garner widespread support that this validates their actions. We are seeing it on all sides of politics now. People are literally now in favour of breaking the law if they feel they have enough support. I'd also point to the fact that Kneecap are doubling down on shouting support for Hamas and Hezbollah and feel supporting these groups is justified. Similar to chanting "death to the IDF" and those protesting outside mosques and shouting about bacon.

The mood in the country is utterly febrile after years of IMO utter failure by our self-indulgent and insular political classes. There is the beginnings of a complete breakdown in trust of politicians, government and associated agencies such as the Police fueld by social media and increasingly click-baiting national media.

Anger is driving increasingly unpredictable and reactionary behaviour and the government(s) seem to have few ideas as to how to reverse it.

Government has become incapable of telling the populace anything they don't want to hear, and when they do they quickly rail back on it in case they lose votes.
Life isn't fair, difficult decisions need to be made and carried through on, we, the people (of rock ridge) are happy for others to take the hit, just don't let it affect me.
As much as I detest the politicians it's our fault, we want everything, we want it now and we want for free.

Thats before the official parts of pleading guilty etc etc

So yeh.........I do know it.

Its pretty easy to stay out of prison and not be a racist, like it is not to be beaten up in St Pancreas Station, avoiding mortgage fraud, not beating your wife up infront of a cop etc etc etc

As long as there are people like you who in your own words, are afraid of people who look different, who excuse such behaviour, then its always going to be an issue...........

I fundamentally disagree with this. People are perfectly adept at understanding difficult decisions. It's that the political class and activist types have become increasingly unable to understand that ability and increasingly treat people like children. The Brexit referendum encapsulated it. "This isn't what people voted for" declared people while taking a picture of British people queuing at border control in Malaga.

The truth is that people not only don't know what people voted for, but were unwilling to engage and compromise with the other point of view.

Parliament and the courts were used to attempt to obfuscate and block the government from enacting a compromise deal between both sides. Causing the collapse of the Theresa May government and a harder line government being voted in as people became increasingly angry.

Similarly the courts are increasingly being used to block deportations and government laws designed to enact measures that enjoy widespread public support. There's been a complete failure by the political class to engage with the issue of immigration going back to Gordon Brown labelling a woman a bigot because she expressed perfectly reasonable concerns about the sheer numbers.

The British public were perfectly benign and tolerant on immigration until the Blair and successive governments adopted the mass immigration approach.

There still isnt a debate to be had on the subject because its yet another issue that people in the political and activist (gobsh*te) classes are simply unable to see any grey. So people will increasingly turn to the extreme option in the face of this continued failure. If you treat people like children eventually they'll act like children.

You don't know that. You'd need to spend time getting to know her and have a few proper conversations with her to know one way or the other.
