João Palhinha

I think he will allow the likes of Bergvall to further explore what I see as a suite of potentially excellent creative talents...
My point was in part that attempts to sign MGW and Eze makes a lot of sense. And that I hope we get the right player(s) in.

I agree that Palhinha can give players like Bergvall more freedom to be creative. Personally I don't think that's enough.

This is still true of course.

And I still think signing him particularly makes sense if we bring in more creativity for other roles/positions.

At what he's good at he's one of the best around. And he's quite decent at the other stuff too. Early days, but looks a great signing.

Goals win games but control of midfield is as big a factor, I don't mean that utterly pointless stat crap of possession or accurate pass count the experts and fans seem to love. Control how you play and how you let your opponents play. It is early to make any claims but we look a team and we made a City side who where praised by all last week very average and that was based on the control we had.

Agree, i know our defenders have taken a lot of stick over the last season or so but our CM was a mess and so open to runners that our defenders were always under pressure. We now seem to have a player in there that will make us stronger in the middle and give our defenders a massive boost.

Given Frank's wishes and profile for players, I think MGW was a massive miss for sure. Eze? Not so much (as I say often, I personally would've loved to see him)

For obvious reasons (MGW, Marinakis, Robert Rosario) I want Forest to go back down to the Championship and have a good old reset and think.
IF they soon appoint Ange, they might set up a bit too open.

If Palhinha carries on like yesterday even at his age has to be worth making the move permanent, short contract maybe. In his interviews he has said how happy he was to be back in London and I thought he said with his "family" then I found this , are they back together? happy families make happy footballers.

Makes PEH look MEH
Haha it's clear he is a step up on PEH and a fantastic signing. But for balance let's see how good he would look if he was flogged to death like PEH was. Palhinha got a nice little weeks rest, a luxury PEH never got because he actually had the ability to stay constantly fit,,,,

I saw him.played in all various of positions and bar passing into the front row or point at people to track runners, there was nothing there to say he would have been any different in any other system

Anyway, the crabs gone, long live the King

One of the worst midfielders I've had the misfortune to watch in our colours

Mentioned it elsewhere but if we could get Semenyo out of Bournemouth I think he's quite similar to Eze. More pace and better work rate but less creative. Has recently signed a new contract so the fee would be high I'd imagine, maybe too high.

PEH gets forward well when he plays for Denmark.

Truth is that one year without a stopper in midfield ruined our season. It’s the most important position on the pitch.

Really? You can't be very old then mate there's been far worse than PEH in our midfield over the years.
No one is saying he was amazing but I seriously doubt one of our worst midfielders over the past 30 years would be a mainstay under both Mourinho and Conte. His appearances record in the league is ridiculous, always available and almost never got rested. But opinions eh....

Barren squad though in terms of Comp, Conte and Jose are not rushing to sign him in their pomp with options and money .......

He was Jose's first summer signing. If he was as bad as being implied then him and Conte most certainly would have prioritised a replacement for the first team. He was a mainstay for four seasons and got flogged to death so obviously his performances were going to be affected at times. Yes we can and do have better now, but Hojberg was not close to being one of our worst midfielders over the past 30 years....
