Eberechi Eze

Shows just how played/mugged off we have been over this whole debacle
Not quite. The selling club and the player delayed for as long as they could to see if a better offer came in.
As it did. Which is their right.
No doubt we’d have got him if arsenal hadn’t come in late. It’s very OTT to claim he had no intention of coming to us. He’d have been happy to play in the Champions League at a bigger club, just he had a preference
I don’t like it but that’s just the nature of the beast.

I do question Eze’s mentality too, if a club binned me as a 13 year old and their rival tried to sign me I’d be straight there ramming the mistake down their throat.

Just like Kane did.

Was going to post similar. And moreover, he's not even nailed on a starting spot, unlike with us. They dropped him once....will theyl use and throw him away again? Would be some poetic justice for us if that pans out!

He is far better than Martinelli for starters. And for any Champions League club there is more than enough games to go around. Best to just lock the thread rather than continue with these jilted lover style comments....

Honestly, Olise is way better at chess than Eze.

My take is that we didn't fully wipe after we took a dump, and then we sat down on the bed and got some poop on the sheets. So not a complete crapping of the bed straight-up. More of a second-hand turd action happening here.
For me, our only good signing was Kudus. We lack creativity still and that needs to be addressed. I feel like Bergvall is our only real fit creative player at the moment, and he's still got a ways to go so even if he reaches his potential, it won't be for another season or two. Who else is going to make CONSISTENT good passes? Porro puts the ball into decent areas but we need much more in terms of accuracy and guile.

I don't want to be too reactionary at the moment since it does feel a bit grim, but we do need to focus our energy on supporting the players against City... who knows, if we beat them, the fanbase might chill out for a few minutes before clamoring for Levy's head again.

Apparently not well tonight, WALOB

Oliver Glasner has said Eberechi Eze called him this morning to pull out of tonight's Crystal Palace's game.

They play Fredrikstad in the first leg of their Conference League play-off at Selhurst Park tonight.

Speaking to Channel 5, Glasner said: "Honestly, I expected he would start today for us.

"But he called me this morning and said that he doesn't feel well to play in the evening. I have to accept it. Everything else, you have to ask the chairman.

"I have to accept it, if a player tells me he is not ready to play."

They have :

Gyokeres
Jesus
Havertz
Saka
Trossard
Martinelli
Madueke
Nwaneri

and now him

100% he isn't starting as much as he did for Palace and he would have for us in a world cup year he has taken a massive gamble

I think he will do well for them. But I'm not as enmamoured as many fans seem to be. Someone posted that Eze is better than Trossard, but not night and day better - which I think is fair. Kudus a more potent player and possibly more consistent if played correctly. For those reasons I am not as jilted as most seem to be. I'm quite happy for us to explore other oppotunities.

Agreed. And whilst he's better than most of them, it is nice to see the goons tie up all their PSR and leave themselves with little room to manouver in future windows. Who knows maybe he'll win the league for them, but it could equally go pear shaped. Let's hope so :)

I don't think like most other teams they really care about PSR anymore

Surely Lego Head has to deliver this year or be sacked after now spending around £1bn in the 6 years he has been at the club

Does this add weight to being strung along train of thought?

I actually listened to the Ornstein youtube Marky put up and have to say, all told, it is probably the definitive set of statements. He is absolutely right, as was @Lemonade Money here...unless we are physically Parrish or Levy, we're dealing with a less than fully informed deck and dealing to an extent in assumptions (I asbolutely include myself here despite 'whomever I've been speaking with'). I still that if Kai Havertz had trained today, Eze would be having his medical with us tomm and be registered in time to play at Eastlands Saturday. I assume he would've felt the same 'under the weather' re: Palace tonight personally...

I cannot get angry at the player. He supported them as a kid, he's probably buzzing.

I dunno, I don't buy that their go-to move when faced with losing one of their two strikers for a couple of months was to buy a 70m AM - i think the injury is a red herring. Maybe it kicked them in to gear sooner than they would have otherwise but I suspect in that case that after tonight's EL game it would have then been after the weekends PL game and so on.
