Morgan Gibbs-White

It’s all a load of gonads, they have just been a little clever chucking Mcatee in their to make the story more believable.
Your choice to disbelieve, but that sounds pretty plausible.
Not that it matters now, but it's potentially interesting backstory. Believe it, don't believe it, we move on.

I think the added truth is that whoever wrote the clause left it open to interpretation. The agent/agency have to take responsibility for this. Whatever about Marinaskis and MGW (I'm sure there's some truth here and there), there is simply no way the agent would not be the accountable party in a release clause bungle/issue. Besides, if Marinakis could so easily have tied him up in a legal battle, then why did he essentiality double his wages? he could've simply turned around and said 'I've got you by yer knackers and to show I'm not a total clam, here's an extra 15 k a week, now STFU or it's going to get uglier'...if that clause had been both water tight and properly defined/understood by all parties, then this situation would not have occured IMO. That MGW felt the need to call Frank and apologise says something, I will say that!

This was posted by one of the Spurs Community ITKs today:

"I just wanted to clarify what happened with MGW as there are a lot of incorrect rumours etc still doing the rounds and a few weeks have passed and I think it's now safe to do so.

MGW leaked his release clause, not his agent, not Spurs and not Forrest(just for old times sake). Forest knew he was looking to move and concocted a plan to do a PSR bump with Emirates Marketing Project and McAtee where City paid well over the odds for MGW and McAtee went the other way for a lot more than the eventually bought him for. As soon as it hit the news City dropped any interest they had which wasn't much but if they could get him cheap then it could have been an easy flip for profit if it didn't work out. So now how could City pay £80mil for him when the whole world knew the release clause was £60mil?

From what I was told and shared in the lead up it to it all hitting the fan, was that MGW leaked the release clause to the media so that couldn't happen. Marinakis and Forest found out about it and threatened to tie him up in court for years like what happened with Bosman and he would have been left not playing in a world cup year in the peak of his career. This left him little choice but to sign a new deal on much better terms to make it look like a win for Forest and more importantly Mr Marinakis. It all happened incredibly fast because he was left with little option after he had completely f***ed himself over. Spurs knew nothing of all of this and were as shocked as anyone when the story broke that he had signed a new deal

The release clause he had, had a confidentially clause added. What it basically said was that if a club bid X amount we will accept the offer. The whole point of that confidentiality clause was to protect Forest's interest and I completely understand it, and I will tell you all now there are many many more contracts out there with clauses that are exactly the same as this one(it's not uncommon). You just don't hear about them because, well, they are confidential.

What the clause actually means is....., look we know if a bigger club comes in you may want to go and if that is the case then we will earn a profit and be able to buy a replacement and understand you want to be the best you can be. If that is the case and the magic number is £60 mil they may come in with a bid of £70 mil which benefits the club far more. If we tell everyone the release value they will only ever bid exactly that much. It's one of the reasons clubs make various offers going up in increments up to the price they are actually willing to pay and not go over."
Sounds like even bigger ITk gonads than the usual ITK gonads to me.

In this case, I think you're wrong.
If as implied he's already an 'ITK' that's strike one already.

Then you consider you would have to be in a certain position to be privy to this information, and a very few number of people know the true ins and outs of what happened here - And then it just so happens from that extremely small number and in such a position they are likely to blab on the SC ITK thread or allow someone close to them to do so?

The fact is anyone on here if could be bothered could come up with a 'plausible' account of what happened if had the inclination to do so. Just so happens most people on here aren't that sad....

I really hope that account of what happened is not true because it’s downright bullying. Especially with his wife having a difficult pregnancy (at the time of the transfer activity) you can understand he wouldn’t want to bring more stress to her.

He's hardly a Son like character - just because he has a frown a lot of the time, he was like that before this happened and so are the majority of people. Not many are just walking around constantly smiling....
Some things just show.

Watch Levy's face when shaking Anges hand during the shaking hand procession before the trophy presentation in Bilbao.

Yes he's smiling, but he really isn't.

And people also love to look for things that aren't really there.

There's no evidence to suggest he's anything other than happy, he wasn't a 'smiler' beforehand and for a guy who isn't a happy bunny he put in a great performance at the weekend whilst laughing to the bank...
