Problem is in the Windies now hardly any kids play cricket
It used to be cricket, cricket, cricket but now the kids want to play US sports instead and there isn't the talent pool
Also doesn't help when one of there best players gives up playing for them to be a T20 money mercenary but can you blame them when they get a pittance compared ot what the IPL, the Vitality Bash, Big Bash pay

I've not been to Barbados for about 10 years but where we use to stay the local ground always had games on at weekends, was a nice break from the beach, the teams got lots of advice from the spectators.

Is it the same here. I have not seen kids playing cricket in the park since I was a kid in the eighties.

Test cricket is alive and well! Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy watching the Big Bash and IPL but there is something about Test cricket especially when playing the big boys that is very special and the shorter versions of the game will never come close to it.....

I’m sure I’ve mentioned on here before so apologies if repetitive but I was for years in the “cricket is slow and boring” camp. Mr GL would say to me you only see it as boring because you don’t understand it. So I made an effort to get to grips with it, high level only. Just so I could say “ok I understand it and it’s still boring”. But of course as I learned more about it I really began to appreciate the game and the tactics of the test matches. I went to a few T20s but they were more work jollies than anything else. Fast and fun but not the same as a test.
Now I enjoy a day out at Lords (and we are going to the Oval as well this year) but I actually prefer watching it at home in some ways because I feel I really benefit from hearing the analysis, which trumps any football commentary/analysis by miles.

To add - I still don’t fully understand half of what goes on and am constantly asking questions. But I enjoy it all the same.

That's awesome
I love a day at the cricket, not for me Lords though, I far prefer the Oval or Edgbaston for atmosphere these days
Lords is an occasion day for me

Yes. Lords is definitely more formal )and linen-oriented 😀). Also civilised that you can bring in your own drinks. Went to the Oval when Stuart Broad played his last test match. Looking forward to going back there again.

Which will probably mean we will collapse for a total around the same as India's or a little more.

Usually either the openers get us off to a great start and the middle order collapse, or the openers are out early and the middle order get us some runs. Quite rare that both happen, especially against such quality opposition I'm sure India will come back today.....
