Why did I read that sounding like Jim white … especially the last bit answering your own questions.

Lots of ifs and buts to be fair, you got to have deep pockets to gamble paying for that these days. However if Frank wants him then I’ll just back the decision. Could be our Mbeumo

Yes, but Bowen is a HG lad who's played his entire career in UK, 5 in PL, and I've already acknowledged he's a good player (if you look at my posts last year, I said I'd like Mbeumo or Bowen).

Like every player, there is some risk with Kudos, which is why he's on the market for 20M-30M below his release clause. It's down to club and manager on do they think the risk/reward makes sense.

Yes, there is obviously some upside for him. I just find players that sign big contracts at smaller clubs at that age, can find themselves trapped there - Zaha, Kane (!) dare I say it, Eze to a lesser extent - during their peak years.

He can’t leave for fear of having the Dyer family maim him
Kudus joined West Ham as a stepping stone

Palinha is a great example. He has just missed 84 days or 17 games for BM with 2 separate injuries. Capology has him at close to 200k Euros a week. In your mind, are we supposed to give him a 3 or 4 year contract. He might not even settle for less than 4 years anyway if he agrees to leave BM and not back himself to have a better second season.

I'm not sure I could watch another Scotty Parker at our club. Great first half of 2 consecutive seasons and blowing out his arse after Xmas. Never mobile enough and just doing pirhouettes in the centre circle. We needed Parker when he left Charlton, not the mercenary one that took money over football all his career prior to joining us.

Personally, I'd rather we found a 25 year old with relevant experience. I loved the Toby signing at 25/26 and it's guys like that who will get me excited. We got our leadership either way there and didn't need to buy a 30 year old.

Scotty Parker was an excellent signing for us. I'd be very happy if we could get an experienced player as good as he was to come in and play central midfield for us. The pirouettes in the centre circle thing was a lazy stereotype.

No idea what you mean about 'taking money over football all his career. There is barely a player in the game that doesn't try to maximise their earnings.

I agree that we should've got Parker when he left Charlton. That doesn't mean he wasn't still a good signing when we got him. Milner was another one we missed out on several times and each time he would've been a good signing for us.

I'm not sure I'd take the opinion of many football fans, most have little clue of what they are watching or the subtleties of the situation.

After Kudus' first season West Ham fans thought he was world class. The truth is somewhere in between - he is a player with lots of talent but some inconsistency, who performs best coming from the right side of the attack.

I would imagine the conversation with the agent went a bit like this.

Agent: I have lots of interest in my client from big clubs who would pay him big wages
Bournemouth: We're not going to sell him for less than £70m
Agent: In which you need to pay him an amount commesurate with him being a £70m player

Suspect his new contract makes no difference to the price that Bournemouth would sell at but at least the player is now earning good money and has protected his future.

He has some excellent attributes and would give us a lot of options on the right
