Salary sacrifice has been my last refuge from tax.

I don’t even earn that much these days and I am absolutely done over for tax.

I don’t think it’s at all fair at all I had no furlough in Covid times.

Well he is concerned with the revoking of the blasphemy laws which allows Religion to be mocked.

Thought that was clear from the video. The Monty phyton guys went through all this when the made the life of Brian all those years ago. Religion is allowed to be mocked and ridiculed, because its ridiculous in my view. Some of them are pure evil with their treatment towards women and gay people. But I guess in certain cases we should turn a blind eye to the mistreatment of those minorities.

Mockery fine but this isn't that

Burning of books to intimidate makes people feel uncomfortable therefore a public order offence. You talk about anecdotal moments that impact your thoughts a fair bit, you not think that people might feel uncomfortable walking down the street seeing some nutter burning a book, regardless of what that book is? I think thats more the point more than the fact its a Quran............

We can all say we don't believe in any religion and mock it, I do it regularly, but this is clearly not just that

Which is what should have happened to start with.
They made a political calculation hoping the narrative would be "well done Labour for reclaiming public money from the rich" and "we can now do more to help out because we've improved the economy".
I still it was the right decision, however should have come with either the means testing or in conjunction with a change to the standard benefit eligibility limit.

They've handled this recklessly.

My mother spends her allowance in Bonmarche. :D

The whole scheme was a stupid idea from the start. It should have been means tested from the get go, then we wouldn't have had all this nonsense.

Why not just cap bills instead, so everyone on low incomes can afford it? Fix the consumer pricing per unit for all electricity (and gas, till the phase out is complete).

I don't think the fella should have been fined to be honest. It's a thin line and close to being a blasphemy prosecution and that isn't something I care for at all.
