He said he would need to either gatecrash the meetings or be invited to them when asked about Tel's continuity as a Spurs player.
I was a little weird and a few of us picked up on his tone. It was especially strange as he clearly had his hands full with the tactical management of a squad that were playing in a major final. Why would he even be sitting in meetings to discuss next season's squad? We had more important things.

My friend...I don't think there was anything to 'pick up' one. It is absolutely clear that he feels he is on his way, that he had not been given the courtesy of any hint of information, and that he was using the post-win press.
He would absolutely have been involved in squad discussions from the last window, It's not like they all just gather and get on with it now, I suspect there are several deals already in the offing, and I'd guess a couple have held over from the last window into this i.e. McAtee discussions perhaps. I agree, not in the weeks leading up to the final, however he'd have had a clear message by the time of the SF IMO.
He obviously used the press conferences to -
a) make it clear HE wasn't going to quit and
b) make sure that if he was denied the opportunity to see where he can go with this side, that he will be compensated for it as it will require a sacking and not a 'quiet departure'.
Whether you agree with that or not is certainly a personal thing, but it's hard to deny that's exactly what he's been doing.
I said back in February that IF Levy was sticking by him to support the structure put in place then good for him, however I felt it was much more likely he was leaving him hanging in the wind to catch the flack at a time when he himself was under attack. It's got a bit tricky because the bloke actually did what pretty much nobody thought he could (and that includes people within the boardroom IMO) - he won the Europa League. It is my belief that the only reason Levy has not announced his decision is that there was concern over emotional backlash when we won it.
We will soon find out...frankly (no pun there LOL) I hope I am wrong and this is all semi-conspiratorial silliness!!!

I am definitely not Ange’s biggest fan when it comes to his exchanges with the media but this seems fairly harmless tbh and just an admission that he doesn’t know and doesn’t get involved.

Not saying he has complained. Just commenting on the implication that our recruitment model is somehow flawed because other head coaches have complained in the past. The two head coaches that have been most vocal about it were Mourinho and Conte. I don't have much sympathy for them though because both were actually heavily backed in the transfer market. Conte in particular had circa £250 million spent in three windows on Bentancur, Kulusevski, Perisic, Bissouma, Richarlison, Lenglet, Spence, Udogie, Danjuma, Porro and making Romero's loan permanent.
I've consistently gone on about how inexperienced our coaching staff are since Nuno's staff left.
In particular, we know the fitness department is key under Ange. He acknowledges himself that the way he trains and plays produces an enhanced injury risk. At previous clubs they've managed to get on top of it in his second season onwards but the intensity of the Premier League is something else and playing European football midweek is also something that needs to be factored in.
Our fitness staff:
Michael Cooper (36) - recruited from Leyton Orient
John Thrower (33) - recruited from Middlesbrough)
Jordan Slack (30) - developed internally
Matt Bickley (31) - recruited from Stoke)
Woefully inexperienced for combination of Ange's methods, PL and Europa League and dare I say the results were inevitable????
None of this changes my view on Ange. I'm just all for balance and he's been dealt a poor hand this season, but played it poorly in the domestic competitions.

The rest I can agree with. My sense is that the club are close to making their decision. He won't keep his job unless there is acknowledgment on the manager's part that he needs to up his game in certain areas. We gave the guy a massive opportunity. A huge club, a huge budget and access to a superb squad. Some of his management, not all, has been sub-par. If Ange can convince his employers that he is going to improve in those areas then he should stay. If he is too disagreeable in that conversation then he WILL and SHOULD be given his P45.
I hope Ange responds in the right way to the tough football questions from his employers. They are fair questions.

As I've said for weeks, I think it's been done for sometime.
I would question 'access to a superb squad' given that on the eve of his first season in charge he had to deal with a 25-30 goal a season world class generational talent striker on whose goals we'd been dining for a long time leaving. Without adequete replacement.
Out of interest, do you genuinely believe he would not have learnt from this past season, and do you genuinely think he is so stubborn that having learnt some things, he would then refuse to implement them?
Again, I think this conversation is going to prove academic soon enough...

I agree we'll know what happens soon enough.
If he does leave now he'll leave a squad much closer to superb than the one he took over when he arrived. That's obviously not all on him, far from it. But leaving us in a stronger position than when he took over, leaving us a more attractive option for someone to take over than when he arrived. That certainly hasn't been true for all our managers.

The data doesn't lie though. Ange would have had Harry's entire game stats and he knew that we played a system that was setup for him to deliver the goals. That was at the sacrifice of other players getting the opportunity to score. They were also taking his workload on the pitch. I'm not sure what Harry's average touches was but I remember so many games when it was less than 30. Also, Harry only got 3 assists in 38 games.
So Ange went about things the right way. We score more goals without Harry and they came from all areas of the team. We also used the £100m to get the key players in that Ange has built this team around. He knew that Harry was a great player, but not necessarily a good fit for his system.
So the Harry argument will never wash with me. It's not relevant to where we found ourselves. We managed just fine with a better squad than we had in Harry's last season. We scored more goals.
There is no doubt in my mind that Ange has learnt a lot in these past 2 seasons. You can see him implementing them, but slowly. One thing I would question is why it takes so long with him. It can be like the QE2 turning.
My point is simply that if he shows humility in the employer / employee conversation then he'll stay in role. That is the part that I wonder about whether he will. If he wants out and is going for the package and the pro-Ange narrative he can be as arrogant as he wants. I don't think that is the case though. I think he believes in his squad and wants to remain.

Such a great point. We've gone through a cycle of stadium launch (2019) and saw it immediately impacted by COVID until about 2021. Then the post 2021 years our club has worked tirelessly to churn the squad to what we have today regardless of the managers. It's starting to feel a little like 2015-18 where the squad seems to be appreciating in value.

Is the squad superb? I think its good. But outside a 32 year old Son, I don't think there's the star quality we've had in previous squads that got into the Champions League:
2009 - 2012:

I know you think Kane was slacking off for several years with us. Unsurprisingly I disagree, instead seeing it as him finding a way to continue playing versus getting re-injured over and over again (he adapted his game, his training, his diet, everything in order to find a way). And the data doesn't lie, no. Ange did a great job of reconfiguring the team without Kane, but the facts also don't lie; take 25 to 30 guaranteed goals a season from a man stepping into his first season, and you are doing him a disadvantage. As for 'using the 100 million' in part, yes. But her had to essentially wait until Solanke came to get a proper replacement. One season.
I have no idea where this concept of his 'lack of humility' has come from TBH. I would be appalled if anyone thought he had to 'sing for his supper'. I would expect manners and teamwork, no more, not one ounce less.

Superb is a relative term that people will use differently. I don't have an opinion on how the word should be used.
My point is that we've been moving in a good direction again. Ange has been an important part of that.
