Indeed article 18 of the fourth Geneva Convention protects hospitals unless they are being used to commit acts harmful to an enemy - and even then a warning should be given and time allowed for evacuation.
International humanitarian law is crystal clear: civilians must be protected at all times, even in urban warfare - destroying hospitals knowing it will kill or maim innocents is not "reasonable" it is a war crime.

It baffles me that there is so little for Israel to concede. So little to lose. Just a passing recognition that Palestine should exist - and have its own people representing it.

This is the issue, people picking sides like its so easy and not accepting any kind of nuance. Hamas = despicable humans, IDF response and murder of innocence and raping of women = despicable humans.
I will leave it up to others to debate beyond that and the historical politics. But Netanyahu is a dangerous human and is doing things to just wipe people out indiscriminately as much as Hamas were. Both as bad as each other in some contexts
