Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

she's been able to voice that opinion, repeatedly, its all over the internet, Elon Musk is a big fan of her thoughts incidentally...

I'm not comfortable with the death threats, but her words, amplified though others, will have caused untold distress and pain to many trans people, some of whom will sadly have committed suicide

she's destroyed her legacy herself, by her abhorrent beliefs and behaviour

here is a quick refresher on her opinions by the way, its worth a read, but will take a while, https://theweek.com/feature/1020838/jk-rowlings-transphobia-controversy-a-complete-timeline

Much of what she has been saying for years has now been backed medically (the Cass Report) and legally (the recent Supreme Court judgment). So there is a strong argument that she - and others like Graham Linehan - were absolutely right to voice a strong alternative opinion.

It’s obviously a highly complex issue, but imo it’s been dreadfully handled by many of the more radical voices in the trans community, and by organisations like Stonewall. They’ve done trans rights (which any right-minded person will obviously want to see respected) no favours.

Fair enough

I think the recent Supreme Court judgement is a disgrace and far more women will suffer because of it

I’m not sure it will cause women to suffer. In what way?

Hopefully the dial is turned down on the heat in the debate now - although these placards from last week’s protest following the ruling suggest there is a way to go on that, on one side at least.

There is now a whole group of women being treated in a different way, in some cases not even allowed to use the women’s bathroom.

The whole trans issue is not really on my radar and I don't have a "side" in it. But the other day at Victoria station, my leg was having trouble bending, I live with a chronic health condition. I used the disabled toilet.

I'm not classing being trans as a disability but to say they will not be able to use a toilet seems far fetched to me.

Have a far bit of sympathy for the the LGBTQ lot. Spent lots of years living around Brighton and there a great community. We have some gay friends. Someone beeing born in the wrong body does sympathy.

I just feel the are quite a few who if anyone has a difference of opinion they try to demonise them. I agree have not heard of incidents of women being attacked by trans people in toilets but taking women's concerns over safety seriously when women have so often been mistreated through history is not exactly a bad thing.
