Maddison’s problem is technical
He isn’t able to switch play without turning his body. It’s incredibly weird almost like he has a frozen right hip
I don’t think I’ve seen a player like him in a long time… even when he passes to his favoured left side it’s with a wrap around pass. That’s not how anyone plays
Now when he does come alive and play good passes is when he is going towards the byline. He then passes like a tricky winger.
Just feels to me like his skill set doesn’t suit the position he plays anymore and as we’re a possession side it’s highlighting it much more too

Was trying to remember what he was like when he played the attacking right channel for Leicester. You can't surely operate like he does now in that position. Makes me wonder what would happen if we change the left right bias of Madds and Bergval and switch them around. Like Sarr, Bergval does like a right wing forage though. You might lose that.

Ultimately we need Kulu back.

I'd like to see the 4-2-3-1 where the 3 interchange laterally.

Poch used to have Sonny on the left but Eriksen and Dele had a real understanding and could switch positions seamlessly. We could do that with Kulu and Madds and let someone like Johnson give the width. I'm pretty sure Johnson would thrive in a role where he can find more spaces to run in.
