All he had to say was that Chelsea fans had made a raucous atmosphere, the goal silenced them and he was reacting to that, plenty of players do it when they score a goal.

This. Is it something that should change my opinion of him? No. I think its a symptom (of him being out of his depth at this level both temperament and coaching wise) rather than a fundamental reason for falling either side of the fence on him. But trying to argue that it was anything other than a "f*** you" to the fans having a go at taking Bergvall off is for the birds.

Me neither, but it's how fans of all teams behave. I'd love for all football chants to be good humoured tongue in cheek banter, yet, we all know that is never going to happen. I also get a bad feeling in the stomach whenever our fans abuse one of our own players or coaches or whatever. We all know he is on his way out anyway, no need to rub it in, in my opinion. But it is what it is.

Absolutely. He's had the most backing from both the fans and the board of any Spurs manager i can remember and it's taken best part of 2 seasons of consistently poor results for any real heat to be directed his way. We've totally overhauled the squad and spent a lot of money. So far he's been found wanting and become unnecessarily antagonistic and disingenuous as time has gone on. And its not the first time he's invited conflict with the fans. He had a go over the whole Arsenal rivalry stuff much earlier on in his tenure. Conte got angry. Conte had a point. Not sure Ange has a point or a leg to stand on 2bh. I feel like we were very lucky to obtain a coach of Conte's calibre. I feel like Ange was very lucky to be offered the THFC head coach position. Conte tried to direct fan anger above him. Ange has chosen to take fan anger personally and engage in an ever escalating confrontation with the people who his superiors ultimately rely on for revenue. Its basically sealing his own fate.

It's not up to me or you to tell other fans how to behave or feel. As long as they aren't doing anything illegal or threatening the safety of the players or the manager, they are entitled to articulate how they feel.

You'll see some fans on here don't like booing at full time. Some don't like it at half time. Some don't like the Levy/ENIC Out chants during a game. Some fans don't like abuse of players or managers at the games.

But some do and that's their right as ticket-paying fans. Even Ange and Maddison accept that.

I agree, I would never do it. But I hear people argue that fans should be able to voice their opinion and that this is one of their only ways to do so directly towards the club. I would just say that, like you, I don't personally find that supporting your club, you're essentially just creating more toxicity and turmoil, and that certainly is not going to help the team.

And, on a human level, I just don't see the need. But I just want for all of us to be friends and friendly with one another. The guy is clearly in a tough space. We all know he is going. Give him a break. He's human too. Just because he's earned well and has gotten bad results doesn't mean we should pile brick on him. But you know, thats my ideal world, it doesn't exist.

Haha what? Where did I get personal? Calling him defeatist??

And no, my beef is not because I'm worried about Ange. I'm sure he can handle it. It's because I don't think it's helpful to Spurs. That's it. Just like I thought the name calling of Ndombele was pathetic. I called that out on here at the time -- every time I saw him called "fatboy" I felt the same way.

In what world is slagging off your own manager helpful?

Spurs fans are clams. Every other week there's protests against the owners, all happening with different groups with the own issues and often looking to build their own profile. You've got fans goading and abusing the players and managers for social media videos. Brennan Johnson literally disabling social media to get away from the hate.

There's a trend here. Ange has not been perfect, I've said that many times. But own fans are very much part of the problem. This situation is absolutely not getting any better with the next manager. The same thing will happen.

It's 2025 baby! .....

The sacking of Nuno, (as well as keeping Ange in his job), is on those running the club, not the fans and it was an awful look at the time. We wanted Conte in the summer, couldn’t get him so we appoint someone lower down the list. Then when he shows the typical new manager inconsistency rather than back him, we get an inkling conte might be available and we sack Nuno. Now, of course, Nuno might not have worked in the long term, but it was a ridiculous decision to terminate his employment so quickly and all because people at the club were overawed at the prospect of appointing Conte, whether or not he was right for the club.
