It can't be anything other than his agent scrambling for someone dumb enough to give him a fat contract. Problem is United are already paying him more than most teams pay their top stars and all he does is fill a spot in the home grown/club trained quota.

I know I'm in the minority on here but I would sell Lamela and bring in Lingard to replace him. That then frees up an overseas spot and gives us a player who would be available to fill in on far more occasions than is the case with Lamela.

I'd sell Lamela but I wouldn't bring in Lingard. Other than one really good spell of form he's also a player who doesn't score or create. He's not young, there's no hidden potential. We can do better.
