Sir Alex signed him and Poch (apparently) wanted him. Some pretty good judges rate him.
Storming success he was at United too. He'd be a very expensive benchwarmer, money that could be so much better spent.
This. He's a good player but not good enough for our first team. If we were City then fine, but he'd be a very expensive sub (for Poch to bring on in the 85th minute).

A significant upgrade on Llorente, Moura and Lamela. He could cover all three front positions.
He's not a striker and he'd be a massive downgrade on the other two.

Im a fan of Zaha, and Id like him in our team.
BUT...
...This is really just knee jerk flimflam due to injury/international football. It happens after every loss.
The only thing evident after last night is that after a season of massive injury compromises we are down to the bare bones - for now.
In a month we'll have everyone back and then itll be a case of "Well where is Zaha supposed to fit then?!"

For me lamela has his place, I feel like he is the sort of player who offers great value to the squad - but Im far from convinced he has a long term future in the first team.

Might as well spend it on something st this point - better-spent seems like an excuse to not spend at all.
And Zaha's a good player. I'm not sold on him as a signing, but he is better than Llorente, Lamela and Moura, imo. He's stronger and faster than them all, for one. And he's s much better dribbler than Lamela or Moura - enough to make him a more dangerous player overall, albeit in a worse team.
All academic, though.
