I fudging despise Liverpool, I really do.

And on they night I do think it was a case of Barca being very poor more than Liverpool being very good, but...

...fair play to them. They dug in and got a result I honestly thought impossible.

Most specifically I thought it impossible Barca would not score - which would have been game over.

However, Pool got up for it, put pressure on and took their chances. Its a remarkable result for them, so full credit for that.

I have to say, honestly, Id have much rather played Barca in the final. They look shot to me.

Pl teams regularly make the semis/final in the CL, regularly make the knock outs at least.

I dont think Chelsea played like Liverpool/Leicester either. And if I go back further to Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea (under Mourinho) they were teams with real style and hardly the type of basic cliche you are trying to paint PL teams as having.

Those game played with style within the confines of the Premier League. At European level which English teams have historically out played European teams on a footballing level, you have to go back to Liverpool and Celtic for that. The modern era has seen English teams progress until they come up against technically superior teams that keep the ball. Ferguson has spoke about this many times, and also about playing a different way in Europe to combat this.

I agree, but equally, every scouser I know is saying the same about us. They didn't want us.
 
There's not many teams I'd like to beat in a CL final more than these clams. Will be quite fantastic if they ended up with nothing with us being European Champions. I shouldn't look at rawk as i often end up getting wound up but comments like ' spurs don't belong here ' and 'theyd be the worst side to ever win it ' only add to the adrenaline I feel about this game.
 
Klopp loves a cup final flop tbf but for sure they will be massive favourites and rightly so.

Can take heart from the fact we run them close at Anfield last time out and probably should have got something out of it and of course the pressure will all be on them

Reading on RAWK, apparently we're the biggest bunch of diving, cheating brickhouses around. Their superior quality make them about 90 % likely to win though.

How many times should Spurs have gone out of this tournament? Surely their luck runs out eventually?!

We are far better than either of these and as mentioned with non PL referees we will be fine.

Just hope it’s not 3rd time lucky for Spurs against us. Especially as those tacos have no european history at all.

Spurs been spawny as fudge to win their Quarter and Semi matches. Fair play they got through, I think we are too strong mentally and football wise for them.

Fair play to Spurs but this is really not the final I wanted. The build up is going to be horrible.

Their fans will soon realise what it is to come up against a side like us, with a fanbase that travels like ours. They'll fudging brick themselves when they see an ocean of red in the stadium.

Spurs are absolutely nowhere near our level. I know it’s a final and anything can happen but we just need to play our game and we’ll body them.

Only down side will be the London biased press ...

VAR favours us too because I can only recall Spurs getting dodgy decisions in our matches in recent years.

I think this is all utter cliche, and quite frankly incorrect.

Utd, Chelsea have won in the last decade.

Liverpool, Utd, Arsenal, Spurs all made the finals.

Dont see much point in counting up the Semis - kind of undoes the whole "English teams lose as soon as they meet a technical european team" doesnt it?

Just look at our own games in recent years, Madrid, Dortmund etc - we have played every bit as well as them technically and not just played the cliched premiership kick and run nonsense that gets spouted.

I think this season with Liverpool and Emirates Marketing Project in particular is the first time in a long time English clubs have been in a position to come up against the best European teams without being underdogs.

In the last decade when English clubs have beaten the best clubs on the continent (when they've actually been near their best) it's been by trying to defend well, counter attack and nullify the attacking quality of the opposition. There may have been exceptions to that, but if so very few is my impression.

That's as much to do Europes big clubs being on the slide as Liverpool or City getting better.
Juve, bayern, RM and barca are all aging teams either too reliant on one or two players or in nerd of a total refit.
Also in two seasons Liverpool have only come up against top eur clubs twice, RM and barca, lost one, won one.
City haven't faired much better against the top sides (us obviously :) when they've met them.
Even in England there's a vacuum at the moment with man u, Chelsea and arsenal all struggling in relation to past success.

And also their away records against the better sides are very poor

The biggest clubs in Europe have always been on various stages of relative slides and improvements. In the past even when teams like Real, Barca and Bayern have been in their slides, small as they may be, English clubs have almost always been underdogs.

I think with the way Klopp and Guardiola have developed their teams that is changing somewhat. Results won't always show that, the margins are too small, but for me there is a change there.

Obviously one teams success is another's failure, but look at the list of massive clubs not even challenging for the domestic leagues, man u, the Milan teams, even RM and this is only Liverpool second serious challenge in decades.
It is a cycle, just an unusual one that all the traditional powerhouse teams are going through it at the same time.

Klopp especially but Pep as well has taken the old English teams blend mainly homegrown players blended with some Scots or Irish as the labourers and swop them for European, only difference is the role reversal having the English as the labourer.
