I think its a great shame about Dalglish. A great player and great manager in the making. The post-Hillsborough events really took it out of him and yet he still won the PL with Blackburn.
The Liverpool hierarchy left him out to dry over the Suarez affair. He was out of his depth, wanting to support his player, and not knowing how to handle it with the press. For players supporting their team-mates the tee-shirt was understandable, but for the manager, representing the club, it was extreme folly and someone should have stopped him. The memory of Dalglish wearing the tee-shirt will remain for most non-Liverpool supporters, the same way non-Spurs supporters remember Hoddle for the wrong reasons, while we still remember the player.
Strangely the owners have got away with sacking a legend when they should share the blame for disastrous handling of the crisis, which must have impacted on their season. The fans are so obsessed with the innocence of Suarez and how it was all lies by Evra and Fergie, they can't see how they have also let Dalglish down. He deserved better from the club he served so well as a player and manager and post-Hillsborough ambassador.
