You two are talking at crossed purposes. @Finney Is Back contention is that before Villa even had discussion regarding new owner investment a deal was there to be made. Due to the (slow) speed of negotiations Villa were able to gain new investment and the opportunity to sign Grealish cheaply was missed.
I’m not.... I’m talking about 2 very, very similar situations of 2 players both available for £25m who had two specific clubs after them. One of those clubs managed to make an acceptable bid by June 20th. The other club didn’t make an acceptable offer until second week of July (despite starting talks for that player well before the other club). The acceptable bid was not made until they got word that investment was coming into the selling club. The same club who didn’t think the player was worth £25m before they learnt investment was going into Villa thought the player was worth £35m two months later however.

It was agreed when they had started talks but not yet agreed to invest. There were 6 weeks before then to do that deal.
