A higher class of benchwarmer, so to speak. Like I said, I'll shoot my load a hundred times over if we sign Hazard or Llorente. But it's unlikely. Ergo, I am subconsciously conditioning myself by arguing on behalf of the types of players you list. They're not all bad, some good 'uns in there, potential, etcetera, etcetera. Consider it a peculiar Tottenham trait; after all, from Zidane to Ronaldo to Morientes, we are the masters of hyping a signing up and then failing miserable to secure him, so can you blame me for being cautious?
Why couldn't we sign Llorente or Hazard?
We're flush, on course for direct CL qualifiction - second one in 3 seasons, playing some great attacking football, new stadium on the way, fast growing global brand, based in London, etc.
We're no longer on par with Everton and Aston Villa, mate. Those days are long gone and we can most certainly entertain the likes of some of the top emerging players atm.
Yes, some of those players from the list are half-decent and can still improve a little, but most certainly will not improve us, considering our current squad and short/medium term outlines. So why spend money on 3 inferior products instead of inversting in a single proper one who would benefit the team exponentially more than any of those. Sorry, but I don't follow your logic on this one
We are 3 months away from entering our 4-5th transfer window since our first CL qualification having previously failed short for numerous reasons. Considering a Top 4 finish is 80% guaranteed I'd say now would be or chance to establish a firm foundation for future transfers by making a landmark capture. Not a half-kocked panic buy
