We've seen plenty of games over the last few years where we come up against an opposition who is happy to sit back, frustrate and counter one or two times a half. This evening i felt, mostly from the first half tbf, that we were a lot more assured in trying to break that sort of approach down than anything i can remember going back to the Poch days (even back then it was still a crux for us with multiple match winners on the pitch) the game was played deeper in the opponents half than what we have been used to and the speed of pass and movement off the ball again was much better (for the most part) - so despite the result there's still signs we're moving in the right direction.

I’ve long suspected that there is outside interference most likely from an advanced alien race and the chelsea game just confirmed it for me.

Why they do it is the question and ofc its not just us. My guess is its for their entertainment or they are rigging bets on their alien homeworld or something.

If we had Kane up top, we would certainally have more points now. But you can still see progress from us. And tonight we were great for 20 mins, then we and them tired noticably. Strange how early both teams control and fitness seemed to go. But we were good for the lead at HT. A little unlucky Zumas shin didn't hit the net. A little unlucky a hand ball and pen wasn't given - he moves his arm towards the ball.

Without Maddison, Son playing every game.

Personally I can see a style of play which is coming together. We needed more from our young squad. And have missed ruthlessness to put teams to the sword. But you didn't expect us to be perfect right away did you?

Very good summary. West Ham barely deserved a draw, let alone a win but we also didn’t do enough, especially after we’d been pegged back to 1-1.

The style is there
The effort is there
The lack of actual edge is sorely missing though
It’s pretty but quite blunt a lot of the time because teams know that we only play one way
Today was a mirror of Sheffield United and Liverpool

Ange got things wrong today BUT if we go back and look at his thread before the season, to a man we knew this season would be bumpy to overhaul a club and install a new mentality. That was before losing nearly an entire first team.

That's not to give him a free pass, we have to question things absolutely BUT we have to stick with what this project is, we can't go through the continuous cycle of managers and going in hard, especially after 15 games.

Skipp for Lo Celso didn't make a great deal of sense to me despite Lo Celso not really have the impact needed. We need him to make more through ball and to speed up the tempo of the match. It was all a bit too safe from him which make the change to Skipp an odd one because that's pretty much all he does; play it safe.

I think it really showed again the lack of quality depth in the squad. We just don't really have much outside the 12 players and I'm including the injured bunch in that.

I thought Hojbjerg was our best midfield player today. Won a lot of the ball and used it sensibly.

Lo Celso had the attacking midfield role but wasn’t creative enough, I think Ange wanted to see if Kulu taking that role instead of Lo Celso would yield better results, I’ve got no issue with that.

Compare how Maddison demands the ball all over the pitch and dictates our play with how often Lo Celso gets on the ball. I’m not digging Lo Celso out here in particular, just saying that him coming off today wasnt a mistake in my opinion.

Have always said it about Conte, results weren’t the problem with him. His attitude was especially at the end. If Ange achieves similar results to Conte playing good football, he’ll have been a success here.

It is too much for Son. He can't carry the attacking side by himself. He is closing down the keeper sprinting vs City, tonight and more or less every game this season. Normally, Postecoglou would rotate him and keep him fresher. But Richi has been out, Madison out, Johson out and lacking confidence.

It is not a system that makes us blunt, it is injuries and Richi and Johnson lacking form.
