But I seem to recall a loss kick starting us last season when we seemed to draw a load?
 
Edit: i am still to hear how/why we let our lead slip last season at the Lane when THEY had 10 men...

A draw against 10 men - that wasn't bad, now I remember when a certain Emirates Marketing Project went down to 10 at the Lane......

Im not as concerned about our form coming into this as the fact we are missing Dembele,Alderweireld and Lamella. Really think we are too weak to get anything.....

Yes, we're really going to need some players to step up somewhat unexpectedly tomorrow. Looks like Winks should get his first start, unless he wants to play Nkoudou and move Eriksen back into CM:

Its asking a lot of one man, but I really hope the return of Kane can restart our season....just before another flamin international break!

I wouldn't disagree with a brushstroke that broad, but you claimed our results against the same sides were all better than theirs, and it was a brave claim, but I don't think it held water. It's a derby, though; anything can happen. I haven't looked, but I expect the bookies are still backing the draw. If not, that's probably the value bet.

Well, Toby's apparently out. Which means this is going to be a *long* ninety minutes, and we'll have to pray that Walker doesn't immediately lose his brain again like he did against Leverkusen while Verts keeps Dier within acceptable levels of shakiness in the middle.

Set up defensive, see if we can nick a draw. It'll be difficult to do given that we only know one way of playing, but it's probably our best chance.

Same here. We are missing 3 key players that can trouble Arsenal. With Kane not fully fit, we will need a miracle to get something out of this match. Frankly, I am more worried about our defence than our attack. Dier is too error-prone and will be targeted by Arsenal. I prefer if we play Wimmer in defence and move Dier to midfield instead.

One thing to counter the incessant Walker bashing I have heard (not just from you to be fair mate) from Wed...he was the one player who looked like making things happen, and he really did (IMO) prevent us from getting done far worse.

Mate, he was awful. Three times he did something stupid near our box which led to giveaways/chances for Leverkusen, and he looked more and more nervy as the game progressed. He had that one run forward which led to his shot, and another time where he bailed out (I think) Sissoko with his pace - that's all I can remember him doing right in the game. Of course, it's only my opinion as well, but I honestly do think he had a 'mare.

I put that down to him not having Toby alongside him to tell him what to do, when to get forward and when to sit - either that or Toby gives Walker a sense of security which allows him to play well. Either way, Dier's not that player, and Walker doesn't seem like the sort of bloke to do his own hand-holding, so we're left holding the bag a bit till Toby returns.

I have been using exactly the same arguments to myself! a derby is totally different to any other game, and everyone will be expectlng the scum to bulldoze us so that might work in our favour if our players feel under less pressure.

My heart will always rule my head in these fixtures and I can't let myself think of anything other than us winning, somehow, someway.

Will this be the first time Clattenburg has reffed a game of ours since Cheatski?
