Yes, Kaboul is likely to get injured again but the thought of Walker/Fryers in the centre of defence against the Goons fills me with dread only slightly more than it does against Benfica.

I agree. The time for " managing" the squad is over. Better to try and get a consistent team, structure and tactics from now on. Every game is a must win from now on. No excuses.

Interestingly, he has just praised Lennon's defensive qualities. I think he will now leave him out for Benfica. He used the same fulsome praise tactic with Soldado before benching him recently (the Saudi Sportswashing Machine game I think). Lets see.

Does anyone genuinely believe we could beat Benfica (twice), Arsenal, or Liverpool :(

I am just dreading these next few weeks. Just want the season over. Cannot see how we will win any of these.

Benfica beat PSG ffs. 1 goal in 16 games!!! lol.

Anyone going to any of these games, just make sure you sing your heart out.

What is sarcastic about it? Benefica are one of the best teams left in it, we beat them and we not only knock out one of the top competitors but also show we can beat such a team over 2 legs.

And though some of our fans might disagree, others will think winning a trophy, especially a European one, to be better than just finishing 4th.

Sandro's a good player. Lloris is a good keeper. Ade is playing well. Eriksen looked good v Dnipro. Ok I'm struggling now.
 
I just hope we keep it respectable in the next few weeks. I'm usually an optimist (well I used to be) but I can't be having anymore thrashings. One of the only thing I'm looking forward to in the coming weeks is seeing us bringing massive numbers to Portugal and going mental.

Walker can run fast and Chadli's hair always looks well groomed.
 
This will be a real test of character for the team and Sherwood. After getting humiliated by Chelsea, the team need to show positive reaction in this match. With EL being our only remaining chance to achieve something this season, hope we will give our best in this match.

Can see Benfica making it tough for us. Being at home, we need to get a comfortable win to bring into the second leg. Again we have to rely on the unpredictable Adebayor to get us the goals. Still find it annoying that we let Defoe go despite still being in EL. I felt more confident in Cup matches when the "Cup specialist" Defoe was around. Now we can only hope Adebayor and Soldado will decide to turn up and score a goal or two.

Hope we can play Dembele and Sandro in midfield. Our midfield seems to be more comfortable when they are fit and play together. Just don't think Bentaleb will be suitable for this match as he lacks experience. Want to see Lennon and Paulinho start as well. Wish Lamela is fit to start as we haven't seem him for long time. Hope we will win the midfield battle as we cannot let Benfica dominate.

Can't help but worried about our defence. After getting humiliated against Chelsea, hope Lloris and Vertonghen will step up their game and lead the defence. It is important we don't concede any goal as that will help us in the second leg.

It is going to be tough but hope we will get a comfortable win in this match.

Must say, we have been getting so many injury problems under Sherwood. Not sure if it is due to his training methods or not. Wish all our injured players will return for this match. I think we will need all the luck and help we can get to overcome Benfica.

I'm pumped for this game, don't know what it is about the Europa but sometimes I don't give a **** and others I'm all in. I guess it's a result of our league campaign going down the toilet.
