Although we have been caught out through the middle a couple of times, we also need better covering from whoever happens to be in the #10 position when that happens, and for the wide players to tuck in defensively. Because defending we have looked 4-4-2 with just Carroll and Dier recovering in midfield.

But not a bad half all things considered.
 
Lamela is such a puzzling player... clearly there is talent in there, but when he gets the ball he gets vertigo and it goes wrong. I like him in many ways, he does a few good things, you can tell he has got ability but then overall he roosters up so much play. Then fights and wins it back. But he still roostered it up in the first place. Strange boy.

I think Rose was moaning at Lamela at some point about providing cover down the left flank, so maybe they were bickering.

PS I've had BT broadband for years, I upgraded to BT Infinity, but they want me to pay to watch Spurs. I told them to fudge off on principle, I can watch any fuzzy stream just as easily as logging onto their fuzzy stream.

His touch is so poor for a Premiership player -let alone a £36m player. I don't get it, because to become a pro your touch is one of the things that sets you apart from the semi-pros and amateurs.
 
Not a great half, but at least we're ahead. Good for Son to get on the scoresheet early. We're a bit fortunate to be ahead though, considering they had two great chances towards the end of the half. I think the way we defend is suicidal in all honesty, or at least it would be against a better side. We look like a bunch of seven year olds without the ball, everybody just chasing the ball. I know the idea is to put them under pressure and win the ball high up the pitch, but we are normally too late, and when they find a way through our pressure, they are in all kinds of space.

Going forward we started out too slowly, but we upped the tempo halfway through the half and made more runs off the ball. So it is looking better in that respect. If we continue like that, we will get more goals.

I think most players have had good moments and bad moments. Carroll has done some good defensive work and Son has been lively. Townsend started out poorly, but got better. Alli shows his potential in glimpses. Lamela is looking quite poor unfortunately. Dier hasn't really been in the game and Rose needs to focus.
