Suggests that maybe there is something in the idea that we needed to try and do it in one season, because the FA / PL would never have let us spend half a season in the new stadium if that was always the plan? This way, we get in sooner rather than spending 2 years away...

As long as no other work is gonna happen on the pitch area, there is no harm in laying the pitch, so it can settle and bed down properly.

The hybrid stabilised turf, reinforced by polypropylene strands, is similar to the pitch we had at White Hart Lane.
The turf is being brought to the UK in 23 refrigerated lorries over the course of the next three days. Each strip of turf is cut at 2.4m wide x 12m long, with each roll weighing approximately 1.5 tonnes.
Anyone know much about 'hybrid' turf? Assume you can hardly tell it's part plastic?

It's nearly all grass. There are just some plastic stands intermingled to give it strength and stability. I'm not sure but I'd imagine this is mostly in earthy part of the turf with the roots and just above the surface so that actual top surface is all grass.
Edit. I can't remember the system being used at NWHL, but the following describes the GrassMaster system.
GrassMaster pitch is composed of 100% natural grass reinforced with unique synthetic fibres, meticulously installed on the subbase.
- high performance polypropylene monofilament fibres (HPF), produced in-house by a patented method
- fibres are injected 18 cm deep, in a grid of approximately 2 cm x 2 cm to provide vertical reinforcement throughout the pitch
- fibres protrude 1,5-2 cm above the root zone surface
- 20 million HPF fibres reinforce every single GrassMaster pitch
GrassMaster HPF fibres perform three primary functions on the pitch:
- give stability to a predominately sand-based structure by reinforcing the profile
- provide an anchor around which the grass roots can entwine
- maintain the stability, uniformity and even level of the playing surface

From when we installed it originally at WHL, its effectively reinforced with plastic blades of grass.
Its natural turf, but woven into it is plastic grass that adds a great deal to how hard wearing it is.
I think to the naked eye, as well as to play on, you would never know.
Remember that patch of turf that was always bare down in the corner? Couldnt be helped, by Christmas is was knackared. Never happened again once we installed this stuff.
