Not entirely and the club pointed out in the press release that it was motivated by the legal obligation:
"The facility and nature reserve embraces and represents a significantly enhanced delivery of the original legal obligations set out in the S106, which required the provision of a ‘community and education office’, ‘access to the Training Centre for an average of 20 hours per week’ and a nature reserve"

But I think we have done more than the bare minimum, in fact, it appears to have a spirit of excellence behind it. Which is what we like to see.

A lot of companies care about society. I have spent my working life just trying to make money but I still care about the world i live in. I have a national trust membership.

Maybe. Although different boroughs, different councils, different projects (although granted same transport authority). Timing is everything and there may well be political benefits to be gained by making the announcement and submitting the planning application now. I wouldn't expect anything less of Daniel Levy (in a good way).

But regardless, it's a worthy project. It keeps green belt green, it's environmentallly sound, it has educational benefits and the support of local schools and it makes nature accessible to all in an urban environment.
Like @Spur of the moment I'm a birder, albeit fairly novice, but it's a hobby which generally leads to an interest in all that nature offers and anything that can get kids and families outdoors learning about and enjoying what's around them can only be good in my book, and I'm proud that my club is making this initiative happen, whatever the reasons.

Good, bloody foxes keep me awake all night.

Wakehurst and Nymans in Sussex are two lovely parks to walk around.
