Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

You're pro arthritis? Personally I think it offers very little benefit!

I can't understand why people would be against safe standing, unless they don't understand it properly. It's ridiculous when people compare it to the olden day terraces.

I'm beginning to see some pro's to playing at Emirates. Just imagine leaving 60000 turds on their seats after our "home" games.

I was really worried that we might be being a bit unfair on other teams by playing some games at Wembley and some at MK. It would be unfair. Just as Mr game 39 'draw a random country and random side' has confirmed.

Thank GHod we have people who know how to run a fair competition

Danchev.

Spurs told to move in with Arsenal – not go to Wembley

The Premier League will block any attempt by Tottenham to use Wembley and Milton Keynes while White Hart Lane is being redeveloped. They would also prevent Chelsea using Wembley during the three years it will take Stamford Bridge to be turned into what the Premier League champions are calling “a cathedral of football” if any fixtures are shifted from the stadium.

The Premier League’s executive chairman, Richard Scudamore, said the most logical place for Spurs to play the 2017-18 season was Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium – though he acknowledged the level of opposition this might bring.

In a meeting between the Spurs board and the Tottenham Supporters Trust in April the club stated that their preferred option was to move to Stadium MK, which is due to have a capacity of 32,000 when White Hart Lane begins its redevelopment in May 2017, and play the bigger fixtures at Wembley. Scudamore last night insisted this would be immediately vetoed by the Premier League.

“They would have to play in a single stadium for an entire year for the integrity of the competition,” he said. “You cannot have 19 home games with 10 at Milton Keynes and nine at Wembley. That is completely, completely unfair. That will not be allowed in our competition.”

He added: “They know the rules and what we require. They have to provide a stadium. We can’t have a fettered fixture list.

“Clubs have to be able to deliver 19 home games in the slots that are required. So, if they share with a rugby league club, we cannot be fettered as to when they can play.

“They have to work it out with Wembley or wherever they want to play, and decide if they could deliver that level of commitment to us.”

It would be difficult for either club to rent Wembley for a season because of the stadium’s commitment to staging NFL matches, cup finals and semi-finals. Brent Council currently limits the stadium to staging 37 live events a year.

Chelsea are reported to have offered the Football Association £11m to stage games there – substantially more than Spurs.

From the Premier League’s point of view, the most straightforward solution would be for the Tottenham board to ask Arsenal to play at the Emirates. The West Ham board has already rejected any suggestion of Spurs sharing the Olympic Stadium.

“Premier League fixtures are paired so Liverpool and Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal and Manchester United and Emirates Marketing Project do not play at home on the same weekend,” said Scudamore. “So it is perfectly possible to have two teams playing in one stadium.

“You might very well argue that in some circumstances that would be desirable but I do know the reasons why it would be difficult.”

In a poll conducted by the Tottenham Supporters Trust, shifting all Spurs’ home games to Wembley while White Hart Lane is rebuilt was the overwhelming choice of the fans. Only eight per cent said they were “highly likely” to make the 48-mile trip to Milton Keynes, while 40 per cent said they would only renew their season tickets if Wembley were the sole venue.

I think that the Independent are misreporting this. Scudamore did say that we couldn't use two grounds during the season but this shouldn't have been news for anyone. I do not think that he dismissed us using Wembley and besides, it is owned by the FA, so it would be their decision not his.

100%. What the independent have reported is nothing to do with the facts. Spurs always known that we need one stadium for the full season.

We will end up playing at Wembley and the FA will milk it for all its worth I reckon.

In every other sense playing our home games at the emirates makes perfect sense....other than that it is a terrible, terrible thing which shouldn't happen.

As for leaving 60,000 odd turds on the seats.....we would probably only get away with this on the last home game of the season.

Isn't that the natural state at their home games ?

Seeings as we let the Scum play at WHL during WWII (?) it'd be nice if they had the decency to return the favor by offering us their ground for a season - not saying we should play there (though i wouldn't be that put out by it tbh) but the offer would be welcome

ironically we played there because our place was a morgue

edit: just read it properly, I thought we played at Highbury because WHL was closed?

We played at Highbury in one world war, they played at WHL in the other, I can't remember which was which. So we have both already reciprocated the favours. I'm not sure a new stadium and avoiding Milton Keynes can be compared to a world war, although my experience of Milton Keynes is limited.

I don't know if this has been mentioned. But playing the whole of one season in one ground isn't new but that's only limited to the premier league. Say if during that season we were in the Europa then surely we'd be able to play that else where perhaps the valley, craven cottage especially during the group stages when attendance is normally lower. Same could be done with the FA and League cup.

I don't know what we'd gain from doing that though and if MK is our home for a season then we may as well get used to the ground we'll be playing at and let supporters get used to travelling over there too.

Should have been clearer it's in reply to if we played at Wembley. As playing Europa league at Wembley would be ridiculous attendance wise especially how much it would cost per game to play there.
Although in reply to your comments re MK surely with the majority of the fanbase that attend games based in London(I assume) surely midweek games in MK would be poorly attended making sense to try and play them at smaller London based venues.
