The youth players/on-loan thread 2014-2015

I don't think it's a case of one up top vs two up top. It's a case of making the players in that front 3 or 4 aware of their responsibilities in each situation. When we played 442 Lennon was constantly guilty of hanging out wide and not gambling on the back post when Bale had the ball on the left. Getting numbers in and around the box is not all to do with the number of strikers you have on the field, it's to do with the awareness of the players.

Yes I can see that. Still tickles that Poch should be there on a day when a Spurs loanee that everyone is raving about happens to get pulled off very early in a game he's performing well in.

Can't recall players outside the transfer window anyway. I think we might be able to play Pritchard towards the very end of the season if Brentford's season ends before ours, but no chance at this point.

Just Pochettino following up and showing support to one of our most promising youngsters out on loan when he had the chance to.

Agreed. United under Ferguson were excellent at this and managed to do so with any formation. Awareness, movement patterns, stamina, determination, a lot of things that go into it. Blaming the formation is way too simplistic imo.

So where has he been playing for Brentford? Seems on the cards that he'll be in our squad next season which position do we imagine he'll be used most in?

He'll be a first team player for us next season. He will make a similar impact to that made by Kane this season.

I would personally see him and Eriksen fritting about in a free role behind Kane. Both are potentially extremely creative and can play across the pitch: left, right and centre.

Won't disagree if it means we add someone like Pjanic into the midfield behind them or add a pacey player of the Mane type to scare defenders with raw speed

Holtby would be ripping up the Championship, and we sent him away.

Same with Lennon.

And Sigggurdddssson.

I hope Pritchard is the real deal, but he probably isn't better than them lot.

Mind you Chadli and Townsend are probably better players but for some reason they aren't effective for Spurs.

Have you seen some of the kid's games? I wouldn't think so from your comments. Holtby never came even close to the goals, assists and freekicks that Pritchard has pulled off; neither did Townsend. What is so impressive to me is his variety of goals and assists. He is a shoe-in for YPL for the Championship.

Sure it may be a flash in the pan and he may be found it in the Premiership but he couldn't do more than he has - which I thought was why we send these kids out on loan.

Have to wonder what more he could do for people to recognise that he should be given a chance
