The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

I think both the two performances by us and Man Utd, against Saudi Sportswashing Machine, shows we're definitely in a better place than them at the moment. They're not very good at what's often derided by some, that's possession , control of a game .

Very comfortable for the Magpies. well done to them .

Yes, Krul made a few decent saves while still at 0-0, but it certainly wasnt anywhere near the number he made at WHL

We've got to drive the nail deep to make capital out of this. A win is a must. 'Ferry cross the mersey' will win as will Chelsea, City and ****.[-o< I wonder haow much abuse Moyes will get from the 'meeja'. I'd wager not as much as AVB

if they lose either or both rooney for a consideration of time they will be in massive trouble.....

Considering the cover they have for the attacking positions in Rooney/RvP and then Welbeck, Hernandez, Kagawa etc I think Carrick being out could actually be worse for them. Has been close to an ever present for Ferguson I think and is a fantastic player imo. Should be one of the first names on the England team sheet and should have been for years now.

Very under-rated to me. Wasn't Greg on here a few weeks ago saying he should be sacked?

It weren't just Greg . I actually know a Magpie fan and were told that loads felt the same earlier in the season .
Anyway, their recent good form is not really down to Pardew. Everybody knows it's due to the shrewdness by Ashley in appointing that top, top director of football. 8-[

Brutal. They look about 15 points behind recent par, which is massive at this stage of season. Ouch.

And while I feel they will undoubtedly improve on the level they are at in this moment, so will we. City also haven't hit top gear in terms of consistency yet and neither really have Chelsea. It's going to be a massive job for them, the teams at the top are so good this year, and the quality of coaching and players at mid-table teams even means an easy run once they decide to kick it into gear can't be expected.

This. Carrick is the heartbeat of their midfield, a bit like he / Modric used to be for us.

@Squawka: Man Utd completed just 284 passes passes today. Saudi Sportswashing Machine completed 348. How badly do they miss Michael Carrick?

Not sure who's the co-commentator on Liverpool- West Ham, though I'm guessing it's McManaman. Another one who makes me turn off the sound thanks to his endless verbal diarrhea of cliches and retorical questions.

With both him and Rooney out, they had nobody demanding the ball from their team-mates and ticking it around. Very ordinary without those two players in the side.
