I don't think we have a real natural replacement for him, save perhaps Bentaleb.

Wanyama is Sandro/Capoue. Shneiderlin is Dembele with a short passing game

Everything I read seems to say that Lallana is effectively given a free roaming role as a number 10, whilst Rodriguez works around Lambert. So whilst we don't like the idea of Eriksen playing off towards the left, he actually is in fact more central.

Southampton line up is a fairly ideal fit for the players we have at Spurs.

Are the most obvious like for like swaps. We don't really have a player who sits and sprays the ball about like Schneiderlin so maybe the best thing would be to buy him like gutterboy suggests

Then Davis's role well some website did a stats comparison with our midfielders and it turns out his stats showed he runs box to box but creates more than scores. In terms of ground covered and chances created he compared most similarly to Holtby.

This leads us to Rodriguez 's goals from the shadow striker position to fill.

We don't have an obvious candidate based on last season and Rodriguez is badly injured probably out till October. However Lamela scored 15 in his last season at Roma from a similar shadow striker position so maybe Poch can get the best out of him.

So a possible Spurs under Poch could be:

..........................Adebayor
..........Lamela
.........................................Eriksen

.....................,.....,Holtby
...............Sandro......,Schneiderlein

Rose.....Vertonghen....Dawson........Walker
 
I think that it is a bit early to start predicting how any of the players will respond to Poch. Lamela has obviously had a very tough first season with us, he's had injury problems, has struggled to adapt to a new country and his form has been poor (although admittedly with mitigating circumstances). I suspect that it will take more than a manager from the same country to turn it around.

Exactly. I recognise Lamela is talented but I worry some are over stating him somewhat at the moment.....
 
Whether he uses Soldado or Ade as first choice CF is going to be an interesting one for me.

I think both could work very well in his system.

I agree which is why I said there's not an obvious candidate for providing Rodriguez 's goals in that role.

If he didn't have such a bad injury I'd say it was a nailed on transfer target for us. Think we could well look to the market to fill the role if Lamela and Chadli are under par preseason. We've been linked to Wellbeck for example
 
If Pochettino is indeed appointed then he will need us as a fanbase to be open to some hiccups. I think it will take a bit of time for him to work out just who is technically able enough to prosper within his style and who is going to be a passenger and therefore, expendable. It may well be that for the most we will play some lovely stuff next season but might suffer some setbacks along the way.

For me, after the last two seasons of possession for possession's sake football, I just want to go to WHL and feel like I am actually enjoying what I am watching. I want to see some better movement both with and without the ball, a little bit of flair and one touch football. If we still finish 5th or 6th playing that way then that will do for me.

A return in or around Oct by Rodriguez is not too bad. Somebody else said this earlier, but his injury may give us a better opportunity to get him - and at a better price - than if he were fit?

Totally the tickle my balls with a feather. If I am spending nearly £200 every other week I want to be entertained when I come to the Lane, something I felt didnt happen very often last season, and as Marky alluded to in his post, at times it felt more of a chore than a pleasure

It was completely a chore. It was a chore really in 2012/13 generally as well with a few individual games aside, which were mainly influenced by Bale. Us playing better football will create that positive vibe discussed in the other thread. I think most of our fan base would have no issue with finishing 5th most season and winning a cup every 2-3 years if we were playing football the same way Southampton have been. With the morale in the ground higher, the support will be better and from there the performances will generally improve but it is a vicious circle and something that Pochettino will have to get going early on in order to make sure the fans really enjoy what they are watching, even if we don't win.

Kaboul never recovered from his ACL and Sandro has only been 80-90% of the player.

I wouldn't touch Rodriguez with a barge-pole till he's performing at his best again. It'll be a case of if, not when, that happens.

Redknapp was always a somewhat polarising figure during his time with the club (and for what it's worth I thought it was the right time for he and the club to part company when it did happen), but I think few would doubt that it was just so much fun to watch the team under him. Particularly at the height of his tenure. It feels like a long time ago now, and it would be nice if Poch (or whoever) could bring that same verve back to the side.

Agreed again. I think it was right for him to go but the appointment of AVB just didn't work out in terms of style, balance and then ultimately, results. Im very open to what this guy will offer, he wouldn't have been my first choice but if he gets/takes the job then I am hopeful that going to watch Spurs will become somewhat more enjoyable than it has been for the last 2 years.
