This is really odd. the moderator on another site I use hardly ever says anything, let alone pretend to have info about a player, yet I logged on this morning to find this.....
A rare piece of ITK from me. Apparently the word is currently that benteke is deciding between Athletico and Chelsea, with Spurs either not or not yet in contention. This from a friend speaking to friends of the player at the Spa racing circuit in Belgium...
I've obviously told him I want to know more, and questioned the info because of Benteke's agent saying that there was almost no chance he'd be signing for Chel$ki. Hopefully he answers soon.
From SC.
if Chelsea snap him up, I will seriously consider stop watching football...
if Chelsea snap him up it will be all down to us not acting quick enough
Benteke wants to leave Villa, has even put in a formal transfer request at the weekend, he wants to join Spurs, we need a good striker, but until today we still even havent made a bid.
Yeah, either that or if the oil-funded, financially doped, overspending, mockery making dingdongheads over at Chelsea get a player that we wanted it could be because of money...
Chelsea are pre-occupied with Rooney and Suarez, Benteke has let it be known he wants to be a first teamer and Spurs are his ideal choice, his agent has said that his client wants european football, not necessarily CL football.....Its all in our hands, if we want him we can get him imo
Villa have even said they want any deal done quickly as long as the asking price is met. This looks like a very straight forward deal. Lets simply buy him and then start off loading the deadwood.
AVB deserves to get in a good striker and start integrating him asap

I have been a bit quiet of late bur that's mainly as I had no news. Ok so this is what i was told why we have Ade and Defoe we will only bring in 1 more striker, they are working on a few names but not very close. No real activity for players we would let go, AVB has given the chairman two groups of targets, first team and youngsters, a lot of possibles but all dependant on others.
We are having difficulty re the striker situation as Chelsea, Man C and Arsenal are all heavily in the market, we will not pay £25m for Benteke. Too me it seems nothings changed we know are areas of weakness and we still have made little progress, avb wants three more in before the first game of the season, unlikely to happen.
the three positrons he wants players are a forward, wing forward and left back. Looking hard at Portugese and Italian Markets for bargains, we will not be in for Shaw, want Delfoue but likely to go to Everton as he will get more first team football. Jelavic may be an option at the last minute.
replying to some questions
Question: Surely Baldini is the one suggesting targets rather than AVB? After all its his job!
Answer: Combination, AVB has input.
Question: Sounds like Baldini isn't having much effect then.
Answer: More a case of not enough Cash we already spent £15m.
Maybe I did not make it clear, we could bring in another player for say £15 m but that would be it, hence the need to sell some to bring in 3 or 4.

I'd rather we just signed Eriksen. Not sure whether I'd laugh or cry if we blew £20m on another midfielder and no striker came in.
Could it be that bringing Pjanic in would allow us to try and tempt Villa with Sig/cash for Benteke? Sig is only 23 and therefore does fit in with Lambert's youth orientated policy. I'd hate to see Sig go personally. I know people bemoan player plus cash deals but it is a definite bargaining chip. He is not deadwood by any means and Lambert would surely see this.
Gylfi is very higly rated by AVB, so unless a crazy offer comes along, I don't see him going away.
Remember, we said no to £10 million in January.
