cool, amazing the stuff they came up with enhance the show, even if it left them covered in gunk by the time they finished their set

He told me about some really cool DIY stuff that they used to do. One which was really basic but sticks in the mind was that they would get several copies of a loop of film from a silent movie (something slapstick like someone walking into a wall). They would have a load of projectors in the middle projecting onto the walls of a room. They would set the film a frame or two out on each one. They would start the projectors at the same time and it would make it feel like the room was spinning. I tried it a couple of times with mixed results but my projectors weren't very good.

An easy one for me this. I can still remember the first time I heard the Stone Roses as if it was yesterday. I walked into a record shop and they were playing on the stereo. It must have been just before the album was released. I have bought this album four or five times through wearing out copies. I don't listen to it as much now days because I prefer to listen to new stuff but whenever I put it on, I have to play it all the way through. I think that pretty much everything about this album is perfect and I can only think of a handful of debut albums that come close to it.

I'm with you on that one.

I love Floyd, but I have to be in the right mood to sit and listen to them.

The Stone Roses can turn up on shuffle or I can put the whole album on and I'm always ready to listen - I never tire of hearing it. And much like you I've made my way through a couple of copies too.

If you like the Roses record, get Love - Forever Changes from 1967. Apparently it's Mani and Reni's favourite record, and the reason John Leckie got the job as producer was because it is also his favourite (added to the fact he is an amazing producer) It is flawless

This. A vote for Stone Roses from me too please.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Love. Forever changes is a brilliant album.

This is easy. It's a bit like asking who do you want to win the FA Cup final, it's an absolute no brainer, Pink Floyd by an absolute mile.

You people are all departed. That or your ears are broken.

I'm gonna send Chich around to all your houses and he'll ****start your heads until you can hear properly.

I'm disappointed by this one too. In my opinion the Stone Roses can hold its own against nearly any album on this list.

I think you've misread the thread title, it's Pink Floyd we're talking about here

The Stone Roses were Punks when they were younger into the Clash and Pistols.........

Pink Floyd (post Barrett) were one of the reasons Punk had to happen .........

The Stone Roses is a classic album thats influenced so many bands, someone mentioned they were influenced by Love's forever Changes but also add Primal Scream's Sonic Flower Groove to that. Me and my mates went to Spike Island, got there too early ended up playing footy on an industrial estate with loads of random lads.......Noel Gallagher summed it up, the support acts were ****, the sound was ****, but why also no support bands???? Frankie Knuckles in the house aaaarghh, i was a raver but all day was pushing it, when it was stinking hot sunshine and we couldn't take our beer over the bridge, ended up taking acid, smoked loads of weed and fell asleep on a girl i'd never met before. The Roses, well you could hear everyone singing and who cares it was an awesome day...... Thats Rock and Roll **** Pink Floyd

not sure i'd agree with that, Barrett left very early in the grand scheme of things, i'd say Floyd's political attitude was very "punk" for a very long time

Syd Barrett is probably one of musics most interesting characters. Being from a town right next to Cambridge he was obviously by far Cambridges most known people. I know many who met him after he left the band and become reclusive but everyone's told me it wasn't something he either liked to speak much about or even take any credit for.

Sad that someone who played such a big part in British music ended up living a lonley end.
