The All New Transfer Rumour Discussion Thread

How much is the new TV deal worth?

I firmly believe there is money there to spend if the right set of circumstances present themselves, i.e. the right player at the right price. Player deals are rarely cash up front affairs anyway so we do not need 20mil sitting in a numbered Swiss bank account. All we need is to project ahead and cover the payments and wages or whatever. If you believe what you read then the new TV deal will more than cover a punt or two if that is what the chairman wants. But is it?

The stadium and training ground are the other factors in the equation. We have spent some 40mil or so on the training ground, and the land and other acquisitions for the stadium are north of 90mil if what I read is correct. That is a fair chunk of money not available for transfers. This is money in the bank so to speak, and that much less we have to generate in sponsorship for the stadium construction.

Did anyone watch the WBA highlights yesterday? I was well impressed with Lukaku during the game against Reading. I have watched a little of him since he moved there on loan and he has impressed and disappointed in equal measure but he certainly looks to me like the regular starts are benefitting him.

On a transfer level, I would want to see a bit more of him before saying he would be a good signing for us but he has all the qualities including age on his side. However, I do wonder with the signing of Ba, Torres being already there and the signing of Falcao being mooted, is Lukaku likely to have a future there? He would be someone that I would certainly like us to keep an eye on for the rest of the season with a view to making an approach in the summer.

Definitely like the look of Lukaku, depends on the price if he's worth a punt, but seriously doubt Cheslea would sell to us, unless there were something extra in it for them, like Ekotto probably

I doubt Chelsea would sell one of the hottest young strikers in the world to there rivals. Never going to happen.

I don't know what Lukakus feelings towards AVB are neither.

Thats a good point RE AVB actually, I had forgotten about that crossover between them. Probably that alone makes it unlikely. The whole concept about him being one of the best leading strikers in his age group is irrelevent for Chelsea. They aren't playing him and quite frankly are very unlikely to play him as a first choice ahead of Ba, Torres or Falcao so I think he is unlikely to be at Chelsea long term.

The questions are really whether he would sign for AVB or would AVB want him which is probably a No and would Chelsea sell to us which is a Yes because their arrogance and money means they believe can afford to sell to us and for it not to impact badly upon them long term as a club.

I cannot wait to read that ITK thread when the window closes. So far 14 days in and successful in not reading. Although some has filtered into other threads. Alas, I'm enjoying this transfer window. Not getting worked up by flimflam feels good. So far I found out the Holtby transfer the old school way via a club announcement.
