The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

Thought he was excellent at Carlisle, but not really done too well yet against better quality opposition. I think he is a great option against tired legs in the final mins of a game, Villa match springs to mind, think he had a little cameo at the end and should have had an assist

Like Livermore, he seems to do well enough in the league cup games against lower division opposition but he had a bit of a mare against Maribor. Would be nice to see him given a run out in Prem games, once we arrest this bad run anyway.

If kane can get a loan in the premership then i hope townsend could get on especailly seeing as how dangerous he can be in the final third. I remember west brom wanted livermore on loan in january and i thought that would have done him the world of good 10 or so premership games to help him find his feet. Infact i think townsend, livermore and maybe even smith could all benefit from that. Imagine it might be quite difficult to find smith a club in the premership who would take a player on loan for a few months.

But then villa did it with walker so maybe it can happen again.

Spurs U21s now need just four points from our remaining two matches to guarantee participation in the Elite League in 2013.

Our next games are both away to Sunderland (10th December) and Aston Villa (17th December).

As there's quite a gap now before our next match, I would expect a Spurs XI game or two to be squeezed in to keep the players sharp.

It has to be a fair bit of time since we had this much promise in our youth ranks. Must improve the chances of at least one of them following Caulker and Livermore into the first team

Adam Smith getting absolutely abused by Leeds fans on twitter, pricks.

Lost again have they? I'm sorry but thats one team I'd be happy to not see in the Premiership again (sorry LeedsSpur) along with Cardiff City. Unfortunately I think this season is the one where they finally come up.

Likely to be less than that since the top three teams in our group will qualify for the Elite League. We're currently top and, of the teams that could still catch us, 5 points clear of Man Utd, 7 clear of Saudi Sportswashing Machine, 8 clear of Aston Villa and Southampton and 11 clear of Sunderland. Those clubs either have one or two games in hand but they will have to play each other so will inevitably drop points.

Actually, the top two teams in Groups 2 & 3 automatically qualify for the Elite Group stage while the two third-placed teams play-off for the remaining place.

did he do something to rile up their fans ?

Yes.

He had the nerve to be in the path of Luke Varney's swinging arm and fell to the ground - leading to the Leeds player's dismissal.

Neil Warnock - surprise, surprise - accused him of making a meal of it and the neanderthal Leeds fans have obviously lapped up every word.

Varney had a look behind him, towards Smith, before backing in and swinging his arm and clearly making contact. Whether or not it was deliberate, I couldn't say. But there's no question that there was a heavy impact. So it's ridiculous for anyone to point a finger at Smith.

The Premier League website claims otherwise. But I guess that, if what you say is true, it's a consequence of Watford's withdrawal from the U21 League.

Anyway, it still doesn't change the essence of what I was saying. It's highly unlikely that our U21's will need 4 points from their remaining two games to qualify automatically for the Elite League.

U21s Stoke City 1-4 Tottenham Hotspur

Free-scoring Tottenham Hotspur edged ever nearer to Elite Group Stage qualification their fifth win in succession at Nantwich Town’s home ground.

Set-piece specialist Alex Pritchard put the visitors ahead with an early free-kick, before the north Londoners were pegged back against the run of play by a 16th-minute equaliser from Mamady Sidibi, returning from a lengthy injury lay-off.

But after both sides had struck the woodwork Spurs reclaimed control, taking the lead through Christian Ceballos three minutes after half-time, before Ryan Mason converted a 56th-minute penalty awarded for a foul on Andros Townsend, who put the game beyond Stoke’s reach three minutes later.

Spurs, who have now scored 22 goals during their winning sequence, are five points clear of Manchester United at the top of Group 2, having played two matches more than the Red Devils, who host Aston Villa on Monday night.
