The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

Tweets after U-19 NextGen Series Barcelona 1-4 Tottenham Hotspur

Alex Pritchard: "Great experience, nothing better than beating Barcelona at their place"

Alex Pritchard: "We expected them to have a lot of the ball, we hit them on the counter. They couldn't live with us on the counter attack"

Alex Pritchard: "He was ruthless, that's what he does. Score goals, he's a bit younger than me but when I play with him, it's great"

Coulthirst: "Great deliveries made it easy. A hat-trick against anyone is great but against Barcelona at their place is special"

Yeah but who cares what anyone says on here? ( the Internet I mean ). Zero reason to pay any attention if its clearly the opinion of a lunatic.

Tottenham Hotspur U21s v Southampton on Monday Night:

Our free-scoring Under-21s return to action on the main stage at White Hart Lane against Southampton this Monday, November 12.

The team has surged to the top of Group Two of the Barclays U21 Premier League with a string of fine performances - and goals galore.

They hit top spot with a magnificent 6-0 win against Saudi Sportswashing Machine on Saturday - that made it four wins in five, three on the trot and 31 goals so far in eight games!

There was plenty of goal action the last time the Under-21s played at the Lane - a 3-3 draw against Villa - and now they face a Southampton team who they beat 4-2 away in October.

Buy your tickets now and enjoy a night of football at the Lane.

TICKET PRICES:
• Juniors and Senior Citizens: £1

Under-21 Barclays Premier League Season 2012-13

How did he do? It seemed like he was universally impressing and then got benched for no apparent reason, though I'd wager that it's more complicated than that.

14 appearances for the Tractor Boys, scoring once.

Looks like he did pretty well, but Mick McCarthy terminated his loan because he was after a player in a different position.

Our U-18s are due to kick-off soon in their Premier League game at Southampton and they will be looking for a third consecutive win after beating Sunderland 2-1 & Saudi Sportswashing Machine 4-1.

Ah. Thanks. Rather hoped he'd spend a season acclimatizing there. Any chance of him featuring for the U-21s, or in the Nextgen? I'm unsure what the registration rules are like on those tournaments.

SAINTS U18S 4-3 SPURS

Our Under-18s almost completed an unlikely comeback against runaway Group Two leaders Southampton in the Barclays U18 Premier League on Saturday.

Southampton, who have won eight of their 10 games so far and top Group Two by seven points, raced into a 4-0 lead by the 54th minute with goals from Omar Rowe (2), Ryan Seager and Charlie Higgins.

However, Laste Dombaxe made it 4-1 a minute after Southampton's fourth goal and within 15 minutes it was 4-3 with Roman Michael-Percil and Victor Zapata-Caicedo on target.

Unfortunately, the fourth proved elusive.

Academy Manager, John McDermott, reported: "First of all, it was a chance for the lads who weren't involved in the NextGen game against Barcelona and there was a debut for goalkeeper Liam Priestley.

"We dominated possession but defended poorly on Southampton counter-attacks and set-plays ad they were extremely clinical.

"We had to make changes, Victor and Ruben Lameires had a positive impact off the bench and we got ourselves back to 4-3.

"Laste Dombaxe, who provided excellent leadership throughout, scored from the penalty spot after Roman Michael-Percil drove inside and was brought down.

"Roman made it 4-2, a tap-in after good work down the left from Victor and then Victor made it 4-3, this time from a Roman cross.

"We showed lots of heart and we had chances after that but the only disappointment was that although we had the momentum at that stage, we got a little impatient, when it was our patience and quality play that enabled us to get back into the game.

"The game went a bit ugly in the last 10 minutes, just through the lads trying too hard. If anything, we needed more of the same that got us back to 4-3.

"I was really pleased with Sam Smith, who had a positive game at left-back, Connor Ogilvie did well again and Filip Lesniak continued where he left off against Barcelona, where he was a substitute."

Spurs U18s:

Priestley

Ward, Gardiner, Ogilvie, Smith

Lesniak, Dombaxe, Winks (Lameiras, 46), Michael-Percil (Sonupe, 76)

Miller, Akindayini (Zapata-Caicedo, 25)

Unused sub: McGee (GK).

Coulibaly reminds me of that Nigerian Chrisanthus guy.

Chrisantus was at least 5 years older than the age group he played with back then, perhaps even more - i wouldn't rule out 10 years. It was silly.
These days they do medical age checks before the tournaments, seem to recall almost entire Nigerian squad pulled out of a tournament when it was clear they would be tested

Having tasted football's highs last week, Jordan Archer experienced the other side of the coin for Wycombe at the weekend.

The goalkeeper made a triple save as Wycombe, scrapping for every point at the wrong end of League Two, earned a point at Aldershot on Tuesday.

That looked like being the same outcome for the Chairboys against high-flying Rochdale on Saturday but with the scoreline at 1-1, Bobby Grant let fly and his shot took a huge deflection, leaving Jordan stranded as the ball looped home to hand Rochdale a 2-1 win.

Staying in League Two, Jack Munns was an unused substitute as Aldershot lost 2-1 at home to Bradford.

In League One, John Bostock was back in the starting line-up for Swindon and played his part in the build-up to the second goal as Paolo Di Canio's men beat Walsall 2-0 at the Bank's Stadium.

The midfielder played 80 minutes and later tested Walsall goalkeeper David Graf.

Nathan Byrne was back from injury for Crawley and played the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Notts County.

In the Championship, Adam Smith put in a full shift as Millwall beat Derby 2-1 at the New Den, while Jermaine Jenas came off the bench in the 53rd minute as Forest drew 2-2 at Leicester City.

In the Premier League, Danny Rose played 90 minutes as Sunderland were hauled back by Everton on Saturday. The Black Cats led 1-0 but a quickfire double from Marouane Fellaini and Nikica Jelavic turned it around for the Toffees.

Away from the UK, Bongani Khumalo played 90 minutes in PAOK's 2-1 win against Platanias. PAOK remain second in the Greek Super League, five points behind Olympiacos.

Meanwhile, Massimo Luongo has returned from his loan spell at Ipswich Town.
