The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

Watched most of the Swindon game on the telly against Doncaster. Pitch was awful given the rugby league played on it and DOncaster are top of the league so not an easy game for our 3 loanees. Brief summary of how I thought our guys did:

- Byrne: thought he did ok though seemed as though the guys up against him were trying to get physical with him at every opportunity. Really did look like a kid playing in a man's game the way he was being muscled. Got forward on a couple occassions though and put decent crosses in - whipped and with pace. DOesnt look close to being ready for challenging for first team football and Smith appears a better bet to me

- Luongo: the pick of our players by a distance and better than most on the pitch - thought he looked excellent and too good for league 1. Looks to have a very solid all round game: very composed on the ball and decent feet whilst he also made one goal saving tackle in teh second half. Has the physical presence, strength and energy too, even though in theory he's still young. This guy has to be above livermore in the pecking order next season - can see him having a very decent future. Very impressive

- Parrett: slightly peripheral in the game though they were playing him in one of the forward positions of a 4-3-3 which I'm not sure is his best position. That said, I dont think he can play in midfield in a 4-4-2 at the moment as he seems to be too easily shaken of the ball, rather than potecting it. He got on the ball 3 or 4 times and went on decent runs - has very quick feet and quite pacy for someone who isnt an out and out winger or CF. Got a couple shots in in the first half though was quieter in the second and taken off with 10 mins to go. Perhaps if we end up playing 4-3-3 at all levels then he has the chance of having a future but better as one of the midfield 3 and would need the right type of player next to him. He does clearly have some talent on the ball and is a good dribbler but I dont think he makes the most of it and is already 21

U21s currently on telly.

We're leading Liverpool 1-0 at half time in the U21 Premier League.

It's on Liverpool's channel, which I seem to have for free on Virgin (assume it's the same for sky)

Chelsea's continued involvement in the FA Cup means that our away Premier League fixture on 14th April has been postponed - new date in due course.
