Estimated_Points_Chart_20.png

This is what would happen if everyone regressed to their mean for the rest of the season, which in Chelsea's case means 46 points from 54 available.

Like for like against last season v Everton hasnt been good 6pts last season 2 this, need to get that back somewhere else on Merseyside. A win at Anfield in April would even things out

Interesting, NBC had our record for first 19 games in last season vs. this.

9-8-2 vs. 9-4-6 (W-D-L)

So what we did was actually convert 4 losses into draws ...

That win number's frustratingly static, though. Maybe that's stage two - draws into wins, starting next season.

Intriguing...

Fwiw, our W-D-L record for the first 19 games (latter 19 games) over previous 6.5 seasons plus the Jol years...

2015 --- 9-8-2 --- (?-?-?)
2014 --- 9-4-6 --- (10-3-6)
2013 --- 10-4-5 --- (11-2-6)
2012 --- 10-3-6 --- (11-6-2)
2011 --- 13-3-3 --- (7-6-6)
2010 --- 9-6-4 --- (7-8-4)
2009 --- 10-4-5 --- (11-3-5)
2006 --- 8-7-4 --- (9-5-5)
2005 --- 9-7-3 --- (9-4-6)

The second half of this season would be an even better time to do that as we are so well placed now especially vis a vis our top four rivals.

I think that's more due to variance/luck than a stage one stage two type approach. We could easily have seen a couple of those draws turned into wins and losses instead.

As far as I can remember we've gotten about as many points as we've deserved this season. If anything we probably deserved a little bit more than we've gotten overall. The Watford game was the first one in a rather long time I can remember where we got more than our performance warranted.

So far that's been enough to slightly outperform our expectations at the start of the season.

Using last season's results to predict to final table there are 5 groups of teams. Arsenal and City fighting for the title. Six sides fighting over the European spots and five mid table sides not too far behind. Bottom three look lost, but they've all improved in recent weeks and Swansea are dropping like a stone.

Not quite last year but -> http://www.squawka.com/news/redknap...-class-of-201011-to-todays-201516-crop/580107

No question in my mind, current "squad" is better, I'd only take 3 players from CL squad (Modric, Bale, VDV), unfortunately the 3 players are WC ...
Hmmm.... I would say that the whole midfield 5 that Harry had was both formidable and extremely well balanced. I think if you dropped that entire 5 (in their prime) into our existing team then we would be a shoe in to win the league.

You would only need Modric & Bale to do that (and either version of them, the then or current) :) I'm a huge VDV fan ... would have loved to see him stay ...

Sandro and Lennon are the questionable ones, Dier is a bit more controlled and less wasteful. That Lennon definitely was a huge part of the side and while Lamela has more potential, you could argue for Lennon.

I just felt that at that point in time all of that five were fantastic. Interesting that you see Dier as less wasteful... Watching him recently I have been disappointed by his us of the ball. Still itt's all about opinions and yours are no less valid than mine....
