Television Coverage Of Spurs

*Out of the top six Spurs have their fair share of pundits with some sort of connection to the club. Not that you'd know it!

Tottenham: 12 (Jenas, Lineker, Ghod, Redknapp jnr, Redknapp snr, Waddle, Murphy, Walsh, Crooks, Souness, Brazil, Clive Allen)
Man U: 8 (Nevilles, Rio, Owen, Savage, Hargreaves, Scholes, Ferdinand)
Arse: 10 (Wright, Nicholas, Keown, Merson, Henry, Smith, Dixon, Quinn, Parlour, Hartson)
Cheatski: 9 (Ghod, Lampard. Cascarino, Nevin, Gullit, Sutton, Townsend, Wilkins, Cundy)
Liverpoo: 13 (Souness, Carragher, Thompson, Owen, Walsh, Murphy, Lawrenson, McManaman. Hamann, Houghton, Beglin, Collymore, James)
City: 7 (Mills, Sinclair, Walsh, Quinn, McManaman, James, Lampard)

Also worth mentioning that though Le Tissier has no connection with Spurs he is known to be a fan.

*Much edited since first posted. Thanks to @Aldo and @Juicebox for their suggestions.

Anymore anyone?
Note: I draw the line at counting that clam Cundy as ex-Spurs.

They may have Spurs connections, but how many of them would you actually class as 'Spurs'? In the manner that, for example, Wright, Keown, Merson, Henry, Dixon, Parlour etc are goons through and through.

Not many for me. Hod, Clive Allen....?

Agreed. Like I said, we have our share with connections but you'd hardly know it. Not even sure I'd guess that Hoddle had connections with us if I did not already know it.

But I would put Jenas in with Allen as Spurs. And although not regularly employed by the media the occasional input from the likes of Ledley, Ossie, Big Chiv, Gary Mabbut and Darren Anderton can always be relied upon.

Baker and Kelly used to have by far and away the best football show on radio in the late 90's early 00's, absolutely hilarious and they are both proper football people so wouldn't arse kiss the latest media darlings just to hype "the product"!

This, this, this.

To redress the balance a bit, I just saw this posted on Facebook, no idea when it was said, or if it's even true but here it is (if it is true, even he has noticed a media negativity towards Spurs though!):

"For me, what I cannot get my head around is all this negativity Tottenham are receiving. In my opinion, it is all just plain and simple jealousy.

I cannot see any of those players wanting out all I can see is players wanting to get longer contracts and staying as long as possible to win silverware.

I have sources in the club and I hear lots of Players' agents are contacting Tottenham themselves trying to sneak a move to Tottenham.

They really are looking like the next European Super Giant in my eyes and as for Pochettino, he is going absolutely nowhere!"

- Jamie Carragher on Tottenham Hotspur

I was thinking about that today. He said it after the Leicester game, we humiliated them on their ground and he made the point, as far as I could remember, 'why on Earth would you want to leave?'

I remember watching that analysis after the game but whilst the gist of some of it may be true I suspect some of the more extravagant quotes have either been completely made up or that at the very least words have been tweaked way beyond what he was actually trying to say.

Of course the memory can play all kinds of tricks but for example I certainly do not recall him saying that bit about having sources at the club telling him that player's agents are sneakily contacting Tottenham. And though he may have said something along the lines of us being on the way to joining the European elite, I suspect the actual words he used were somewhat less florid than those quoted.

The following is an extract from some of his analysis that night. From memory there was more, but maybe only Sky subscribers are still able to access it?

Wow. This is great and it doesn't matter when he said it.

Carragher although Liverpool through and through he's never been disparaging like some of the other sky personnel. Same for Gary Neville he also seems to be even handed in his analysis of Spurs.

Its so nice for Sky sports to keep reminding us when the fixtures are coming out(June 14th)..thank you...the one where the majority of fans want to know are the ones where you feck people about on the changes you are going to make, can a date be set for that.....hello????

The mistake you are making ;) is in thinking that Sky Sports give a brick about the traveling fan, they could not give a toss about them, all they care about is keeping the armchair fan happy.

Brad Friedel, he's one of our own!

Ian Wright praising Harry Kane on MotD again tonight!

Yeah, that's our man Brad putting the hit on that world-ranked, front-runner-lovin' fuqkwit Warren Barton.

Can't stand Barton. Never had a good thing to say about Spurs until it was too late to say otherwise. Not one ounce of foresight or perception about where Spurs are headed. Constantly sucks up to Arsenal and the usual suspects in the top seven. Fuqk you Barton, you inbred, po-faced, half-wit poser.
