So, what happened today?

All the best mate. I also quit my job this week. Wasn’t enjoying it and was losing sleep over it. Luckily am still in my probation period so only had to give a week’s notice. First time I’ve ever quit a job without having something lined up. Couldn’t take it anymore. Didn’t really understand what I was doing and my new manager is a bit too direct for my liking. The previous manager who recruited me left just before I started which wasn’t ideal. No job is worth it if it’s causing you distress or anxiety.

It came at the peak of a depressive episode for her (so a couple of months after our last mushroom trip together). It belongs to the story that my wife have had excruciating migraines ever since she gave birth to our son back in 2015, and neurological (not sure if correct word) pain in her legs whenever she walks for more than say a few hundred meters (the sensation of burning in her legs) (also since the birth of our son). But during this period, she was just prompted to go for walks, and she did, she just walked and walked ... felt no pain in her legs. Her migraines subsided for the month that these revelations took place as well.

And one very grounding thing that has come out of all of this, is her experience of being letting go a bit of the very protective loving hold she's had over our son - she's maturing in her relationship with him, and that is obviously maturing our son also, who I am having a deeper connection with now than I've ever had before, which I'm truly grateful for. It's been such an avalanche of positive domino effects going on in our household lately, and this is one of the absolute best. It feels like our entire family dynamic is just more harmonious than it's ever been. :)

Has this revelation (for want of a better word) solely come about within your family unit? Or has wider experiences and influences been part of it?. Also has professional help played any part in dealing with the buried trauma, for example?

Please only answer if you want. Just fascinated.

Don't worry, mate, I know! I felt that concern, so don't worry. :) I'm fine, mate, never been better! I've experienced some incredible things lately, even more last night, but words just don't do it justice. So I need to shut up until time is right. :)

It started within the family unit, but has since spread to a group of our friends as well. We've stumbled upon a spiritual system (a very open-ended one) that has helped us a lot. I don't want to name-drop it publicly, as I know a lot of people are quite sensitive about new age-stuff and react with all kinds of bile (and I get that, I would do that too not too long ago) - but it's been just superb - and I know that it will be an invaluable tool for the human race in the years to come. Send me a PM if you're interested. :) Anyone else who might be interested too, obviously! :)

Amen brother! That's great to hear. Just allow yourself to feel free and unshackled for a while. Get high in the middle of the day. Do what you want. Sleep in. Take your time. Anyways, just my suggestions. I'm cheering for you! :D
 
6 months into my 12 month contract and realised today the programme managers on this massive project I'm working on do not have a clue what they are doing and also won't listen to people telling them it's going to fail
Think I'm going to start having a look around the market for something new potentially

and now we get a message saying on the work we kept telling them was far more complicated and would take longer to implement has now been pushed out by at least 6-9 months hahaha

Ha ha swear all those big projects always get delayed and go over budget - the project managers would be out of a job is they actually delivered on time and budget.
 
My sister's 18 year old dog has been put down today, a roosterer spaniel called Faith, I can't imagine how hard it must have been to have been there. She'd been incontinent for a while (the dog not my sister) and the vet advised she was a lot of pain where it was unmanageable. Wasn't sure what to say on the phone to my sister other than reassured her she'd given the dog a brilliant life, nothing helps to hear when you lose a member of the family, may she rest in peace.

We are blessed to have these wonderful creatures in our lives. Not too make it all about me I'm a bit lost / overemotional on good days but am a bit more of a mess today, crazy to think that I'd known something/ someone for 14 years and never had a squabble / fallout, unheard of with humans.

That's a good life for a dog though, they love you unconditonally and will always be your best friend
I can't wait until we get one next year

Oh, man, I feel you! :( We had to put our cat down a month ago - she was 17. She could barely walk and didn't eat at the end, so it was the right thing to do, but it hurts as hell. :( They really are precious.

Sorry to hear it friend, can't have been easy even if it is as you say the right thing to do. Cats are fudging legends (including yours no doubt!), one was essentially my best friend last year.

There's an interesting parallel argument why we can can do it for animals and not humans, which is particularly relevant due to my Grandad's situation, but it's probably not a discussion for this thread..

Sorry to hear that mate, I had a black Lab (Ben) who lived a good long old life but with Labs there is something almost too human about them and they become part of the family on a near human level. When he left us it broke my heart and since decided I can't really go through that again at least for a while. Silly I know

Yeah, it's odd. When it comes to humans, we just clutch to them like avatars or something, even though they're practically either long gone or wish they were long gone already. We have an almost medieval relationship to death in our culture. I reckon that's about to change though, but we'll see. :)
