So many areas of concern --where to start?

I might actually be impressed if Levy pulled the trigger on Poch & Baldini Monday, I'm not calling for it, but we have been here before, likely stumble between now and December, no real progress, probably a humiliation or two and then a decision to hire someone before the Jan window to bail us out.

Lets hire a real manager (someone with 15+ years of experience, majority of which are in the PL)
Ask him if he wants a DoF, what he wants the setup to be (if he's going to be accountable, let him get the system he wants)
Accept we may need a leader/experienced head on the pitch as well.

Levy won't sack him unless we are in the relegation zone, for more than a couple of games.

It is hard to know where to start: the worst mess since pre Martin Jol days?
One problem today was that Poch was far too ambitious, filling the midfield with attacking players, and providing no screen in front of the defence. You look back to the steel we had with Sandro and Dembele together... and now? Porous, powderpuff midfield. Players like Lamela, who have no idea what a tackle is. Another problem is our lack of pace and width - unfortunately Lennon's pace is gone and he is is no longer a viable option.
A home defeat to Everton is looking likely. What then? Go begging to Tony Pulis to come and save us? Another poster made the excellent point that combining a youthful squad with an inexperienced manager is not a recipe for success, in such an unforgiving league. It is bizarre that the Board think buying so many players who are new to this league will pay off. My heart says keep Poch for the long haul. My head says that another home defeat will undermine whatever authority he has with the players, and he will be history. HR knew that you need the odd senior player - the Scott Parkers of this world. We have gone back 10 years in my opinion.

First thing I said as we were leaving the stadium. We look like the Spurs team we had before Jol tookover and it breaks my heart seeing how much we have gone backwards in such a short time.
Even listening to Arsenal lose on the way home couldnt put a smile on my face

I think the thing about the plan B is what really rings true. That said I'm not sure it's entirely accurate. At Southampton he had three players in front of the back four and three players that were quite flexible. Right now he is using a system that has a screen of two players and four that are free to interchange. If anything you would argue that this is a new plan for him as well as us. In pre season he even tried a second formation (433) in the second half against the teams from the USA and Canada. This one was the one that the players seemed to settle into the better.

Irrespective of the plan though, the whole thing seems flawed. The press which should happen regardless of offensive shape is not timed well, with some working it well whilst others are not. As a result we are leaving spaces available for creative players to move into (Bojan). Some of the players are a beat or two off and that is enough to make the whole thing look wrong.

As for favourites. I wish. He's used 24 different players already. Granted Kaboul and Capoue look like they are favourites, however I believe a lot of that comes from Poch trying to slowly introduce the new guys.

Need to back Poch and give him time. Changing him now would achieve nothing.

Sign a CB to partner Verts and a proper DM and then things will look a lot better. No manager could achieve anything when 3 of his 4 CB options are Kaboul, Fazio and Chiriches and also when he has Capoue as his first choice DM!!!

He signed off on fazio. Just saying.

who was pretty good before signing for us..

sounds like a lot of our signings. maybe we're the problem?

Not being a d ick but what does that mean? The way we play is down to the head coach. A lot/ all of our players were good before they signed.

seems to be that once you sign for spurs your ability disappears. I imagine if any of our "flops" leave theyll go on to have good careers.

The worst thing that could happen is we get rid of poch so soon. It's Ramos all over again- the players are the ones letting us down- yes poch is sending them out but at the end of the day it's the players that make the mistakes.

The big problem is how to avoid the inevitable spiral / vicious circle where each defeat makes the players less confident leading to another defeat etc etc

I would rather we played the rest of the season as we did against arsenal than carry on running into s brick wall. It's what tony would do if he were to come in and it's the bst way for the players to get their form back. Keep it tight work for each other. So 433 for me stambouli dembele Eriksen Central Chadli Lamela wide Kane or ADE up top. Back four playing as a back four leave the attacking to the mid and forwards.

Defenders defend, attackers attack, midfielders do a bit of Both... That was Tim Sherwood ... Doesn't seem so mad/yts now.

Well that's down to the coach then, unless you are saying our training facilities ain't up to scratch.

more likely the mentality. you join a club with no ambition with no core to win and your attitude changes.

Straight away... It doesn't take a few months for the rot to set in? I'm not really buying that.
