Serious relegation fears

Don't. Just don't. Do me a favor, and don't.

You're bringing back traumatic memories from when I joined this forum four years ago.

CL first. Pragmatism. Dreaming is for suckers looking to get played.

:p
That's what everyone was saying when we started this thread about our CL chances. Hasn't jinxed it much now, has it?

All it takes is a bit of a stumble from Leicester and 75 points could win the league. Next weekend could be a real nailbiter.

Don't think anyone expected this set of fixtures to be pivotal when the season started.

This month is killer. City. Arse. Wham. Fiorentina. Get through this within 6 points of top and I'll start believing.

I am a bit concerned about Eriksen, Kane and Lamela. All three have been playing their hearts out. Eriksen and Kane are so key to us. I really hope they can sit out the cup games. If so, then anything is possible. Pritchard might have done a job but we do have N'jie coming back, plus Chadli, Son and Mason.

From the sounds of it N'jie is going to be out til April, though Mason coming back could help. Lamela has had a little rest these last few weeks, the full backs are being rotated and Kane gets a rest every now and then. I do agree that Pritchard probably should have been kept around, but maybe Onomah is the better option seeing as he's up to speed with the system.

Depending on next week's results, if Leicester lose, I can see us deprioritizing one of either EL or FA Cup.

I think we'll play a weakened team against Crystal Palace. We'll play a team which may still get through but with key players rested. I hope that we then play Hull in the next round. Firstly, as it means Arsenal will have been knocked out. And secondly, as it would be better to play a side from the lower leagues, so that we can rotate. I think we should rest players as appropriate depending on the strength of the opposition.

We have a run of 7 games in 3 weeks starting with Man C however once we get back from Florence (not a long trip) the next 5 games are all in London so there's no long flights or travel

Agree about Pritchard - Poch seems hesitant about throwing players back in after injury, however he could have played a reasonable role for us in the run-in. Would have meant that we could have rotated more in those positions for the cup games

Was looking at our run-in again and whilst its tough, the last 5 games could conceivably be against teams who have nothing to play for. Would rather that than playing against teams who are fighting relegation or for European places etc

Stoke, West Brom, Chelsea, Southampton and Saudi Sportswashing Machine - the first three look like firmly being in mid-table and even 5 games out (15 points to play for) when we play Stoke, there's a good chance their season will be over.

One further post in a short space: I think people are discounting Man U when looking at the top 4 spots. They've been brick all year however aren't far off the top 4. They could easily knock us down to 5th. With the top 4 all playing each other next weekend whilst Man U play Sunderland, if they were to beat Chelsea today then they could be 2 points behind us by the end of next weekend

I suppose what's clear is that we're likely looking at a 50% change to the CL regulars should we and Leicester (nailed on) make top 4.

That's great for us, great to break up the monopoly and fantastic for football. I just hope we can see it through.

I can see Man U coming back stronger if Jose goes there, but I wonder if Chelsea could be in for some time in the relative wilderness? I think Liverpool will still be way off next season and Wenger won't go I forever, so is this our chance for try to cement our position of top 4 regulars?

Yes, we certainly need a Chelsea win today, or draw at least.
