Sandro - Beast

Re: Is sandro as good as popular opinion suggests?

They look nervous?

Are you really surprised when they get booed at half and full time?

We claim that the players should show loyalty to the club and then some thick fans decide we should not show loyalty to them and boo them.

I totally agree with that. The atmosphere at the lane doesnt help. This game was so like the one vs Norwich a few months back when the atmosphere was awful.

Im disapointed when i hear the boos. I think Vertonghan kicked it in the stand first half and got booed. Thats not on.

Looking at Sigurdsson, i didnt see a player who was trying as hard as he can to impress on his first home start. He looked lost and nervous.

I know what you mean. But there is something wrong, they all look a bit nervous.

Come on man, im not saying two draws are the end of the world, but we can see a couple of things are not right.

I think we'll be better after the international break with all the squad here but everything isnt perfect.

Maybe your home crowd booing after you draw your first home game, and then booing at half-time AND full-time after you draw your second home game, is playing a part in that?

fudging hate the booers. I watched Everton vs United the other day and the atmosphere was absolutely electric for the first home game of the season. I went to WHL for the game against WBA and a) the atmosphere was subdued (apart from for Ledley), b) there were groans and abuse everytime anyone made a mistake, and c) there were loud boos at full-time. Great fudging fans we have. I think some (or even most) people have become spoiled after the recent success, and now feel like they can demand more of it. We have a young manager who was sacked in his first season in the PL, and after TWO games the team's getting booed (when we didn't even lose?) The guy looked nervous and intense as fudge today on the touchline, and I'm sure all this negativity rubs off on the players; they're only human.

Re: Is sandro as good as popular opinion suggests?

I think the issue with Sandro and AVB is Sandro might not follow his instruction to the letter whereas Livermore will do exactly what he's told.

Re: Is sandro as good as popular opinion suggests?

MOM Blackburn at home last season

what blackburn who were the wrst team in the division?...any more? i am not being facetious...I am just trying to get to the bottom of the myth that is becoming sandro the destroyer..the lion slayer .../....the guaranteed starter

thats even more worrying...i agree though..this sandro stikes me as not all the ticket. a bit of a headless chicken

Re: Is sandro as good as popular opinion suggests?

We always go back to the same thing, if the transfer dealings had been done properly in July. Then we would be fine now.

We put so much pressure on ourselves being all over the place in the first few games.

There is no doubt we need a result. The press are already lining up to nail AVB and as you point out the atmosphere today was not good. The worst element of it was not necessarily the booing (bad enough), but the sense of eery quiet across the ground. That was disconcerting but speaks to a lack of faith. Hope AVB stays calm and does not get defensive because that will only make it worse. But our players need to step up and support their manager, to show some pride.

dont buy the booing exscuse at all. this is not schoolboy foottball..this is top level professional sport..if they cant cope they are not right for us- but thats for a different boing thread anyway. i want to know all about sandro

And what other top level sportsmen get booed by their own fans two games into a new season? Psychology plays a huge part in football, and as marcospur says it's not just the booing - it's the constant negative, tense atmosphere.

I'm actually glad we're playing away next - think it is preferable at the moment. Don't know if it was just because it was the first game of the season, but our intensity was superb against Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

Re: Is sandro as good as popular opinion suggests?

He was a MOM candidate in 75% of the PL games we've played, he had a bit of a rough patch during the middle of last season after coming back from injury but other than that he's been a beast.

Re: Is sandro as good as popular opinion suggests?

Guaranteed starter, look at the current squad with parker out.
We only really need one holding midfielder (for me) so it's sandro, Livermore, Jenas or Huddleston:

I think sandro is better technically that Livermore, .
Jenas looks lost and has done for a few years. Lost the fire in his belly - probably depressed.
Huddleston today for me was culpable for their goal, why he didn't challenge the header when he was bigger than that douche. Possibly a lack of sharpness but to be honest i've seen hudd go out to block a shot half hartedly before like he was scared of getting the hit. He's no lion heart never mind anywhere near as quick as Sandro so until parker is fit Sandro starts.
Just drop Jake for now except for Eurjoka

hey, nobody else was MOM in that game ;)

I rate Sandro, i think he has enormous potential. I like his character, drive and his attitude. You say you haven't seen him breaking up play, but i've seen plenty of that. I've also seen him break intelligently frm midfield and have an impact further up the field.

He didn't play well in this game at all but i expect him to improve. I just wonder if he should have had a couple of weeks off after the olympics

Erm..

Cleverly? As a DM?

Tiote is close, Mikkel is past it and yaya toure is one of the best in the position, so no, he is not better then yaya toure.

Parker's positioning at times is horrific.

He has to throw himself about a lot because he is in the wrong place, not because he is some brave lionheart.
