Sign 3 CB’s as we’d still have Romero.

I’d keep Davies actually as an emergency player for centre back and left back. So 4th choice centre back and 3rd choice left back.

Ideally sign Tapsoba and Tosin to complete the 4 CB options.

Also sign Phillips to either send on loan for his first season or play with our u21s.
We need 5 CBs, 4th, and 5th should be utility players.

Romero and sign the 3 CBs but let one leave on loan? That leaves us with 3 CBs.
Davies and Dier won't be going anywhere, we need them for cover even if we do sign 2 CBs and let Sanchez and Tanganga go. Next season they can be moved on if we have someone come up from the youth team or get in a young CB.

I don’t think we need 5 centre backs now that we play 4 at the back and have no european football.

I meant have Romero, Tapsoba, Tosin as the main centre backs competing for the 2 places, which is fine as we are playing once a week this season. Then you have Davies as emergency cover and also Phillips if he stays with the u21s this season.

Dier can’t play a high line in a back 4 he’d get totally exposed.

Need to remember Tapsoba isn't around in Jan given the AFCON

We will need 5 CBs. Davies to cover LCB and LB, plus Dier to cover RCB and RB. It would be emergency cases we use either. The squad isn't going to be cut down to 22 with only 2 players for each position.

Dier can't play a high backline and gets totally exposed but Davies, who only ever plays in 3 can???

When did he mark Saka out of the game? The same match were he backed of and off until Saka was in our 6 yard box to cross across the box? Sess is terrible defensively.

I'm not mistemembering I've always said he's poor defensively, just look through his thread. I'm very consistent on this. [emoji1787]

The 10 man Arsenal match? Sure he did fine in that match but the fact Arsenal were down to 10 men after 33 mins probably says more about Saka's inability to have influence than anything Sess did. The next match 11 against 11 Sessengnon did not do so well against Saka, he got roasted.

I want him to be good defensively, I want him to perform well. I just don't see it and especially defensively. Hes very poor in that regard.

He got left high and dry by Lenglet and, even then, would’ve been fine had Lloris not chucked it into his own goal. (IMO) Sessegnon is better than Regulion defensively, even without the luxury of playing in a much more defensively defined left back role as Regulion did compared to the wing back role that Sess typically had to play under Conte.

100%
Conte killed sessegnon last season and out fans very quickly forgot any decent games he had

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. It was poor defensive play for me, I wouldn't want to see that from any fullback.

Wouldn’t have been an issue of Hugo wasnt so bad
He should have never allowed him to cross from that position in the first place. He didnt challenge him, he didn't jockey him, he did't challenge him, he didn't force him top make a decision. He just backed off and off until Saka was on the edge of our 6 yard box and and let let him freely hit a dangerous ball at close range across the face of the goal in which Lloris subsequently dropped a clanger with. A good defender would have stopped the ball even coming in the first place.

His injuries are a big concern but then again so are Regulions. Would be strange to keep an overseas player while selling the association trained one IMO.
If Sessengnon is indeed better than Reguilion defensively (i don't see it, he has no defensive qualities imo) then they both should be moved on and a competent player brought in to challenge Udogie.

It wasn’t dangerous
It was straight at Hugo
Hugo fumbled and he’ll backwards like he had been in the film platoon

A ball that close and across the penalty box is always dangerous. Now most keepers wouldn't fumble it but by letting it happen you're taking the chance.

Anyhoo, lets hope Sess is more the type of defender you guys see than the type I see.

It wasn’t his fumble that hurt him

it was his feet in the wrong place which happened a lot when he conceded

On his heels rather than his toes

I’d absolutely tear my keeper a new one for that

Conceding a cross is normal. Spilling it, spinning it backwards and falling backwards is a basic failing for any average keeper

sess will never push on unless he grows a a pair. He would have been sold this summer imo if he was fit. There is a player there but will he ever realise his potential … I doubt it now

The fans.
Think this is true.
It's ingrained in our fans that we're destined to fail and it surfaces in toxicity, frustration and anger towards the players they're supposed to be supporting.
I don't go anymore for various reasons, for those that do I commend them for the time, effort and money they put into it. Most don't mean to have a go at the team, it can't be helped sometimes. But I also think there's a percentage that will moan and gripe no matter how well the side are playing. Having said that I'd guess there are some City fans who moan when they only draw a game instead of cantering to a 5 nil win.

Moaning and groaning at matches is somewhat acceptable (obviously when it moves into booing individuals it’s not). The problem is now the moaning and groaning is 24/7 thanks to social media, football journalists becoming online celebrities and tier rankings of information. It’s literally a job for some people; there’s idiots on YouTube releasing videos talking of how frustrated Ange is, because they know it’ll get them views and in turn money. And it turns into a spiral of negativity that even this board isn’t free from.

Even 5-10 years ago, there was never as big a freak out if we did/didn’t sign a player that 90% of the fan base had never heard of.
