Repetitive bickering and point scoring about money and our transfer policy

Re: **Official Other Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

I never said that. I am just saying Siggy, Lennon, Dempsey and & Holtby are not footballers. We all know that but some are trying to convince the others that they are, even though I have seen them on the ball all season and I have more skills...

There is no wonder we cant keep the ball with players like that.

Coutinho and sturridge are both technically a class above these players are cost about the same.
you should get yourself down the training ground asap;)

coutinho is a class above in technical ability, but not sturridge. not above siggy and lennon anyway

then ask that liverpool pair to show the same heart and work ethic as our pair and see a REAL gap in ability

That's very harsh on Lennon while Holtby's hardly had a run of consecutive games

Dempsey was bought for more than footballing reasons granted but Siggy has potential, imv

Re: **Official Other Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

If we're discussing 'losing key players in the summer' I'd class injuries which take layers away from you as precisely that for a new manager. All in the definition I suppose.

We lost those players during the season though (plus every time has them) - anyway this was related to a discussion with another poster earlier who compared the 'distractions' last summer to those of Ramos (and latter Arry The Innocent).

Work ethic? Dear oh Dear, Lennon is one burst of pace going forward and one defending. Nothing. Not the level required.

I have been to most games this season and I havent seen him do anything spectacular going forward. To say the least.

Siggy is an average player. Can get a good shot on target but thats about it.

Sturridge hasnt got more ability than Lennon? Come on! Please!

you said about being a footballer, yes? if thats your criteria ...i.e technical ability as a main criteria then no sturridge is not "a class above" lennon. if you want to add other stuff in there then maybe you have a point. but even then both those players are two different players both in their position and in their application. sturridge cannot consistently do what lennon does and vice versa

I really have to question what you are seeing if you indeed do go to most games and you Dont see lennon working hard on the defensive end...of course if he busts a lung to get forward he wont be able to get back immediately but for the most part lennon adds alot of defensive work in our set up.

again i am surprised that this isnt more evident when you go to games.

charlie if you dont want to answer the other thing then thats cool, and i apologise if i offended you with that

Yes he tracks back, good. But he mainly plays in a front three with Bale and a striker. So thats three offensive players, if you have him doing the defensive work aswell then you have nothing going forward.

I have been to so many games where all he did was passing the ball back to midfield with no ideas. We need a player capable of taking the ball, coming inside, and taking a shot one. He cant do that.

Re: what has happened to the transfer section?

'For us, the objective is always to improve the team and for that to happen either we have Champions League money to make it easier, or we have to invest and risk a bit more.

Like we did last time around? :-"

i really have no idea what your footballing back ground is but you say stuff like you go to alot of games and that lennon does next to nothing defensively, then you say he tracks back 'good' like as thgough all footballers do that as urgently and as frequently as he does, which they do not. He is exceptional on the defensive end for an all out winger

then you display a total lack of appreciation to the formation we play......lennon does NOT play in a front three. he is a right winger in the midfield section of our set up....be it 4411 or 4231. if he played in a front three then he would be more a wing forward, (like your guy sturridge or his partner suarez) and their average starting positions are at least one or two zones higher up the pitch than lennons.....who is consistently seen in the deeper midfield section in comparison to those two.

sturridge and suarez also have the benefit of having an experienced delivery system that has played every single prem game , it goes by the name of gerrard...that allows them ample time to get use their skills at the far end of the attacking third. can you imagine how devastating lennon would be if we were set up like them? with him constantly 1 v 1 with the full back? rhere is no one is the league that can match up with lennon in that situation...NO ONE

and then you come back with more basic descriptions as to why lennon is a class below sturridge..saying that he passes back. If you can name me one time where where sturridge gets the ball DEEP on the midfield flank AND is double teamed but he STILL consistently beats the double team , cuts in and causes havoc then i'll give you what you are saying, until then ..when you next go to games...do me a favour and look out for the kind of supply lennon receives and what the shape of the opposition is like when he finally gets to the ball. i think you'll see a set up thats specifically designed to nullify our wing play...which they know works because we dont have the same supply or delivery system as other teams like united or pool or city.

your complaining about lennon cause he passes back when he gets double teamed after not getting the ball early to isolate him......when he doesnt have a corluka that wont crowd out his space and that can supply an incisive pass behind the full back......you go on to complain that because he doesnt cut in and shoot with his weaker foot from the right side that he is clearly not playing well then use sturridge as an example.......even though sturridge plays on the right side as a wing forward which totally aids him in cutting in and shooting on his STRONG side

honestly, i dont think its actually worth the comparison when the systems are different and the personell of each team is set up to allow certain players to flourish

Re: what has happened to the transfer section?

I agree with Arc.. Look at City, they have fudging awful business finances, yet how can they afford to splash cash ? ;)

It's just strange how people with no intimate knowledge of the club's finances can make conclusive factual statements on what we can or cannot afford - none of us have a clue really

None of us knows what we could have afforded back in January or even what we could have afforded last summer. Nor do we know what we might be able to afford this coming summer.

The point that was primarily being made, despite the fact that it has been twisted into something else, was that published accounts prove that the club does spend what it earns and that it isn't sitting on some mythical pile of cash.

I have been a shareholder for years and used to get all the accounts with accurate financial info, but since the club was delisted in 2011 no-one knows anything about our finances now.

- Who was disputing otherwise?

- What relevance does that have on our 'buying' ability?

yeah, Douche is an all american marketing ploy. Football?? forget about it!!

Re: **Official Other Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

I agree. We ALWAYS have an excuse and some fans are more then happy to cling to that and convince themselves that everything is ok.

All this transitional gonads annoys me. Over the years Arsenal lose great players like Bergkamp, Henry and Viera and still always make the top 4, they lose Fabregas and still make the top 4, they lose RVP and still (probably) make the top 4. Instead we moan and groan and use the "poor us" routine time and time again. City, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been mediocre this season but still its us who look like missing out. Its ALWAYS us.

Big difference is that, throughout it all, Arsenal have always had Wenger.

And why is it us who "look like missing out"? It doesn't look like anything other than that it will be fudging tight.

We don't, none of us do (no matter how many times people have gone over the yearly financial reports).

Personally i'm just very annoyed with our chairmans actions since summer 2010 (regarding his transfer business).

2010/11 = We dreamt of Aguero, Lewandowski, Cavani....i mean anything was possible in terms of attracting players now we finally made the CL. Sandro was secured a few month prior to the summer so we had a whole summer to bring in the level of quality required to really push on. Nothing is done until late August where we secure the signature of William Gallas to which i think "ok yes he will give us the experience needed at the back and will hopefully compliment Ledders too". We then do absolutely nothing until VDV is thrown our way on deadline day in a cut price deal. So if that didn't happen, our chairman was content to start the CL season with the sole summer signing of William Gallas...deary me (hell even AVB with his comments now seems to be under the impression that CL money will equate to more money spent but not with Daniel.

2011/12 (January window) = Arry declares he wants 2 signings. We all knew who they were because Arry is a big mouth that informed us via the media (remy and Samba). We've built up a massive massive lead in 3rd place and need that extra something to pretty much guarantee CL football. Arry even says that he's sure we will finish third if he's given the cash needed to bring in one of his targets. What does Levy do? oh Levy waits until deadline day again and secures us Saha and nelson. People continuously stated that "why should Levy let Arry spend the cash when he might not be here", or "he's saving the cash for the new manager" etc etc....hmmmm maybe he can give Arry the cash so he secures us CL footy?

2012/13 (January window) = AGain we're 3rd/4th...need that extra spark to really push on. Does that, as well as the 2 previous **** ups convince Levy to spend? nah of course not. He does nothing again and we look like we're not getting CL football.

Just so infuriating (and you can bet that a hell of a lot of posters on Feb 1st felt the same way).
